There is nothing more moving in this world than a story of a Hero. That's what a certain boy once thought.

Zephyrus Meyer is a former hero candidate. Once given a powerful Goddess's Blessing, he was one of the aspiring hero candidates who were meant to defeat the demon lord. But somewhere along the way, the boy has lost his hope and motivation to become a hero. Now, bereft of the blessing, he's nothing but a shadow of his former self.

But everything changes when he's approached by Alan Welker—another aspiring hero candidate. Alan is a candidate in name only. Despite being gifted the Goddess's Blessing, he wasn't given any special powers. That makes him an ordinary human, bearing the burden of a hero.

Alan makes Zephyrus an offer: "join my party! Together we will defeat the demon lord."

With that, Zephyrus's stagnation came to an end. But would that mark a change in this stagnant world? Or would they become mere victims, bearing the tragic destiny so typical of Heroes?
