Hisao Kaneko has an evil twin.

Okay, so maybe Hibiki Kanai is only a manga character, but Hisao still hates him. After all, Hibiki is the main character of Hisao's mom's manga series Echoes of My Life, which has an uncanny resemblance to Hisao's own life.

At the beginning of each volume of his mom's manga, she includes the following disclaimer:

All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

His mom's readers might buy that line, but Hisao doesn't. Clearly, she is stealing his character design & using him as her guinea pig for all sorts of slice-of-life, comedic, & sometimes romantic situations. If Hisao's life was boring, then manga sales would suffer so his mom is constantly spicing up his life in new & unexpected ways.

What will happen in Hisao's life next? Only his manic mangaka mom knows and she's not telling.
