Born in a world where the sky is always a dark void apart from a series of 16 constellations, Erebos Afkoran has a strange deficiency. Unable to see color and shade, Erebos can't distinguish light from dark and instead sees the world as an expanse only broken by perceivable edges.
The meagre starlight of the constellations is a vital source of energy for the world, allowing those with a control of the world's ancient language to inscribe objects with light and imbue them with transcendent powers. The dream of Erebos is to join the ranks of such artificers, utilizing the light of the stars and requiring him to tap into the power of constellations he can't even see. Such obstacles become insignificant, however, when considered against the machinations of the world hindering him from far outside of his control.

Additional Notes:
- The sky of Erebos' world is an entirely black void except for the 16 constellations, each comprised of six stars. Imagining a celestial sphere, the constellations are spaced equally along a radius of about 45 degrees elevation.
- Each day is comprised of 16 hours, roughly equivalent to the length of the standard 24 hour day. As the 24 hour day of our world was somewhat contrived, the 16 hour division of the day arises from the 16 constellations and overall significance of the number. One of the 16 months, or the time it takes for the world to rotate aligning from one constellation to the next, is then divided into 16 days of 16 hours, each comprised of 90 minutes of 60 seconds. This gives a year of 256 solar days.
