In the year 3184, students enrolled at the Gifted Tempus Academy are given knowledge like any regular school, but they're also taught something extra. How to use their Soul Gears to fight in wars.

The students at this academy trained as they usually did when a mysterious wanderer fell from the sky and attacked them. Their savior? A maid, of all people. It turns out that she was the hidden headmaster at the academy, and she warned the students that in 10 years time, a dangerous war will come upon humanity.

Only those strong enough can fight to help win the future war. To figure out who's better than the rest, a tournament is held to figure out who's the best of the best. Will they be the heroes that will save the future? Or will they simply be swallowed by the darkness? This is only the beginning of their long journey.
