At the Social Simulation Institute, the human experience are researched through a novel but controversial method: using human brains to simulate scenarios in virtual worlds.
Dr. Samantha Keller leads the talented staff of the Institute as their young director. With her clear vision for the future of humanity and her obsessive attention to detail, operations at the Institute have been running smoother than ever — though she relies on Dr. Yolanda Clement, Head of Data Science and her only friend, to manage things on the interpersonal front.
The status quo is threatened by abnormalities in Simulation 137. Despite Yolanda's initial assurances, Sam is convinced that something big is about to happen. And with the arrival of the affluent yet awkward Renaissance man Spencer Forsyth, their daily work life at the Institute will never be the same.
