Earth and Heaven are separated by another world. A world where magic is a fundamental part of life, a universe where people attain the power to become gods. This world is known as Mannaka.

However, monsters known as the Soulless have brought Mannaka to the brink of destruction, and the gates connecting the two worlds are growing weaker. Allowing these monsters to pass through to Earth.

Idly moving through life, Hayate Sato, is an ordinary high schooler with no ambition in life. On his way home from school, he finds himself in a situation that would lead him to become intertwined with the world of Mannaka and begin to walk the path of a Soul Wielder.
