I can't believe that the review feature has been available for a whole day, and nobody has reviewed this yet. I'm getting my review in before there's any moderation tools to stop me.
Honestly, it was a contest finalist and it's tagged Girls Love. If you like GL, obviously you should stop reading my review and just read this book. It's very gay in the best way.
But it's also very smart. It does a good job peeling back the layers on the characters slowly, not overburdening you with exposition up front, but letting you get to know them over time. The information is drip-fed with good pacing.
And speaking about pacing, humor can be subjective, but the comedic timing is perfect.
I'm just repeating a lot of my comments from a few years ago in this review, but skimming the story again, I still agree with them. There's an intelligence behind this story that adds a lot of depth to these characters. The GL tropes are used effectively, but it's not shallow. The story has a lot to say about the characters but also about bigger issues like class relations.
For me, that intelligent writing counts for a lot. If you like smart GL, give this one a try.
