Writing since 2016 to find the fine line between the bittersweet beauty of sorrow and the feeling of deep human connection, creating worlds that provide shelter from reality, but also embrace its way of being.
I occasionally write comments/critiques that could be short stories on their own, so sorry for all the flooded comment sections 😅
Read into my current novel "Celluloid", if you are interested!

I like to play with destiny and "meant to be" a lot. As with the topics of your story it is layered and complex if you look really close. I'm glad that you liked the both of them together! 🙂
Yeah, it can be hard to make the reader not lose the sympathy with a character. But in my experience it is enough to explain the decisions thoroughly. If they are somewhat rational and realatable, then you won't lose the sympathy so quickly.
Its funny that you mention it, since I gave that a few thoughts myself to not make Kanaoka do anything injustifiable: I don't know exactly what it looks like in Japan or other countries, but I adapted what this looked like in my home country, germany. There you have a law called "Jedermann-Festnahmerecht" (Everbody's right to arrest). If a person is caught in the act of committing a crime and there is a high risk of that person escaping, you are legally allowed to arrest them without a court order and call the police to determine their personal details. It is meant as a way to enforce the laws but of course it is very thin ice of what you are allowed to and what not. And yes, hacking and breaking into other systems definitely is a crime, as well as there was a high risk of ArcticLynx escaping (she even ran away, sooo 😅). I just though it made sense to have something similar in Japan - especially since big parts of the japanese civil rights system are inspired by the german law even until today. But to be fair, it is a small shot into the blue.

Yeah, those are the more positive things about the alpha lifestyle, but at least as far as I am concerned there is also this pigeonholing and "ranking" for the worth of a male, a kind of patriarchaic gender understanding and a few other kind of problematic things.
And yes: one could also leave the Incel life behind and not start with the alpha male transformation. However, you are probably going to change big things in your life and at least Glenn would see this as the start of an alpha transformation. But well, those are individual case assesments 😅
I crocheted a few years ago and that is not far off from knitting I guess ... soooo ... 😅😱
And you are totally rigtht. There is neither right nor wrong in the end of this debates.

And I am very grateful for that! It is the same thing with misunderstood feminism. Feminism itself is awesome and great, but it should not swing over to the other extreme, where men's rights are curtailed and rather aim for equality. But lets not open that as a whole new topic 😂
I somehow feel about this whole thing a bit like gaming was seen one two decades ago. Back then the mainstream media proposed that videogames would turn kids into murderers, because "it is just like preparing for the real thing", even though they did really understand the whole topic. By now gaming arrived in the broad mainstream and those complaints are getting less and less present. Hopefully all the mentioned topics will someday also fullfill this same transformation and with it all their followers. 🙂

In this case I can only talk about myself, but I slowly got accustomed to the major characters in the story over the course of the chapters, but still had a few issues with the ones standing in the back rows - or more precisely to associate the characterization from the first chapter to them. I personally try to repeat important character traits or apperances a few times (but not as another full exposition. More like mentioning the hair color when stroking a strand back or something in the lines of that). Through repetition it gets harder to forget and flows nicer.
But that is just for the next novel, unless you still have enough time to rework this at the end.

Yeah, but Chunibyo is not just the anime "Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions". It also is a character archetype like Tsundere or Yandere. The anime surely made it popular, featuring a protagonist who thinks that she has special powers and is essentialy delusional about it. However, there are a whole lot other Animes that feature Chunibyo's. For example the ones I remember: The main character Okabe Rintarou in Steins;Gate has a few Chunibyo Phases with his evil laugh, a friend/schoolmate of the main character in Oregairu, a classmate in Komi can't communicate, the little sister from the protagonist in Haganai. Don't know if you have seen one of those, but "Love, Chunibyo, & Other Delusions" definitely features a Chunibyo as well, and its from KyoAni, so you can't do much wrong with that!
I actually haven't watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumi, but I kind of like Va, so I'll set it onto my list! 😁
