Do a quick test of the electricity

Check that the printer's power cord is plugged into an outlet and that the power switch is on. You should also make sure that all of the system's basic PCs and switches are turned on before printing to a shared printer or a printer on the system. While it's possible you've got a surge protector in place to protect your printer, make sure all of your other hardware is connected and running.
