I read a lot of trashy romance. I love it. I'm a trash goblin. Give me all the delicious trash. It is my life.
Still, I can't help but imagine how tired old romance tropes would play out in a world that was slightly more realistic. What if the protagonist wasn't perfect in every way? What if they only had a few talents? What if the love interest's flaws couldn't be fixed by their extreme wealth? Would it still be a romance? Or, would it be a tragedy?

The deposed third prince doesn't want to die. Eluding ambushers and outrunning soldiers is exhausting, even with help from his strange allies. If only his brother believed him when he said he never wanted the throne.
