My thoughts(Sorry it’s really wordy so it might not be very clear):
Komatsu says her goal is to prevent future confessions by entering a false relationship. I’m not sure if it's intentional or not but Komatsu actually contradicts herself in this chapter.
She tells Hiragi that she never expected she’d have to do this and that she wouldn’t have to go through such a hassle if Hiragi had just accepted her confession. However a little later Komatsu then says that she asked out Hiragi for two reasons, one of them being that she knew he would never accept. So clearly this is something Komatsu has been planning for a while, especially considering her inside knowledge of him and the blackmail she pulled out at the end. It also means preventing more confessions likely isn’t her true goal.
Asked him out for two reasons:
- Because he’d never accept
- Because of his almost nonexistent social circle
I think there’s a third reason as well. She has some sort of feelings towards Hiragi judging by her reaction to him saying they don’t know each other and her knowledge of his thought process. This also fits into the idea that Komatsu has a different goal with this fake relationship.
Hiragi seems like a pretty intelligent person so far, so I wonder if he’s noticed her contradiction or if Komatsu dropping bomb after bomb of what should be his private information made him forget all about it/not notice it.
The personality switch up was good but it would’ve been more impactful if we actually saw more of her usual cheerful/nice side beforehand.
Now the question is: Could Komatsu be completely faking her cheerful side or is it genuine but she takes great care to maintain her positive image?
