I have poor reading comprehension, so maybe I missed something, but I don't understand how the 'system' works. What does it do? is it sentient? Is it everywhere? Why doesn't it know Liam is Liane? why is it keeping people apart? why is it not keeping Liane and her doctor apart? I'm sure the story will answer these question in due time but for now I'm curious.
