Yes they are, they don't want to die like everyone else. In the beginning they appeared trying to break her down with fear but when she killed two of them they withdrawn and turned to their lies instead

I knew that choosing Luna will raise some questions. I tried give more political reasons for it in my reply to Manul but as i try to understand their world there is more to this choice than pure pragmatism

Some in the group were worried that Stella would want to have this role and it would be difficult for them to refuse her without upsetting the balance their community is build on. Many neko in the mountain and Tovira admire her for what she did
I am sure Mitrandes would worry what Stella would do to the sanoors if she would become a Guardian, she was known for her hate and need for revenge.even if she changed lately would she stay like this if she would have authority of the Guardian and start touching the flow and hear worms whispering to her?

Stella would accept Luna as a Guardian without any hesitation and Luna's innocence may be an actual advantage when worms will start whispering their lies to her

Experience..but does anyone have experience that would make them better Guardian? Before worms come most people used magic for their mundane, everyday tasks.would this experience be of such value when faced with worms and forced to preform tasks then never dreamed of doing? Is young, open mind better choice when faced with totally different situation that people were used to?

Even if Luna is not the best choice she is the best choice they have

Choosing Fain would be like choosing another leader from the same ethnic group that for years oppressed others so they worry that he will be seen as just another sanoor who took the power for his own sake rather than a change for better

Chosing young person who will become a guardian was a part of their tradition, back then it was considered a great honor rather than being forced into something. even if their world changed customs and traditions take time to change

They still don't know if the challenge will work or if they will need to steal the crystal. Someone young as Luna will give them more legitimacy than putting someone older and more experienced that can be easy seen as someone chosen by the outsiders This was exactly what council tried to do and why sanoors supported Tanur

In this world power and authority come with age so young guardian will be more seen as a fresh start and going back to how things used to be than someone grabbing power for themselves

InterestingSo it seems like everyone in this world tried to create some sort of cult of happiness and rejected all those emotions that weren't considered nice. What a shame, rejecting them is like rejecting part of who we are. If we could sit with grief when we would want we could learn to appreciate all those small moments we normally ignore until kt is too late. If we could sit with fear we could learn to find the strenght to do right thing no matter how afraid we were

It may be just me but their world as it used to be feel sick and out of balance, it was clearly destined to collapse. It was still a tragedy for everyone but it didn't come out of nowhere

And it is absolutely normal that Windfic is a story about a world kept in artificial state of happiness, it's collapse and inability of it's inhabitants to cope with it when their perfect world was gone
