The rewrite seems to be slower paced than the old version, and I personally like the slow pace more. You've managed to keep the story interesting while spending more time between major plot points - which gives you time to expand on the world and characters. The merchants get their own personalities and, to put it simply, more interesting stuff happens. All in all, the pacing is good!
