Interesting no the ending I would have seen coming. The trickery, the pride before the fall angle as well, worked well. The division of the friends at the end, each of them done with their adventure to go into the future of a new adventure that is to be imagined. It is a solid end, it wraps up a lot, and actually leaves the door open a lot too. Overall, a very solid story, and it has been a fun read ^_^

Amberbrooke having a moment here was great, a good way to end that character arc in the story. Makes a lot of logical sense. Now, the hero fights the emperor in the last chapter, hmm, given the size of the chapter, curious how that will go, Keiko having what seems to be a departure, I wonder more how this will all shake down at the end. This did a good job of building up off the last chapter and the possible cost of the chapter and the resolution of the story. Now for the final chapter of this story ^_^

Well this is a bind, saw this happening as a real possibility, it is a threat to that unity, and without it things could fall apart, but given the limited chapters left not sure. I think this opening act of the finale worked well, the ending worked really well. The tension is super high as they have to figure out what to do, and the unknown of who if anyone will be the one who draws the short end of the stick. With the next chapter being the penultimate, I have to say things are rather tense here and that is a very good thing.I am not sure how this will end honestly, curious what angle you go with.

Friends trust friends is a nice theme at the end of the chapter. Also I can see the star wars new hope angle here, and yep, they are going to aim to use it to destroy a town. Very Kaido One Piece aiming to destroy the capital or Star Wars aiming to destroy a certain planet. I think the rally and the push for the final confrontation makes me think now this might not end with the double fight but just with the emperor fight. I am curious where this will go, this chapter did a good job of building up the stakes for this final battle.

So we get more of the backstory for the prince and we have the conclusion of that thread, the nameless person back a number of chapters was the prince. Figured but clarification makes sense. We know the situation of the prince before death and why killed. Good, that does clear up a lot, but I'm still curious if that ambition might trigger one more rival battle before the end post the death of the emperor. That happens often and I'm curious if it happens here too.

This one felt like a setup chapter for this final fight, the emperor’s sword that sounds interesting, if it is similar to Masako. Is it possible it is the real enemy behind everything? I know that is a trope used often when the big bad is influenced by something else, like Naraku from Inuyasha, and to a lot of people in Naruto through Black Zetsu. I guess we will have to figure out, I am betting no, but just a thought, overall solid build up chapter.

Now off to the final battle the airborne fortress. This should be rather challenging, and also imposing and I feel might put a time limit on the mission too, curious if the fort has some ability such as the ability to destroy the land below or something. It kind of reminds me of the battle in Onigashama in One Piece, just a castle and not a flying giant skull thing.

Death as a point of rally, that makes sense, and the ending on their little saying makes a lot of sense too. It is their bonding call as it were, or saying of unity. I think that even the inflection on that shows that they are very different but are yet still aligned together which is a powerful image and a good closing moment on this chapter. It also shows what impact the deaths have on Akiko well and give an idea of their view when at the bottom. Overall, another solid one.

So the parents are anime parents here I see. Tough scene wasn’t sure if this would be the long drawn out final confrontation location, but seems not, and the fact there are a number of chapters says this too. The deaths were rather quick and the impact was well handled. The effects long term on Akiko should be interesting, will Akiko be more vengeful and thus on the same level of brutality as Masako, I am going to guess we will find out quickly.

Okay, so the last moment switched up with a final battle between Akiko and Masako, I am calling it now. I know Naruto and Sasuke at the valley of the end pt2 and this has some similar themes to it. Rivals on the same side with a common enemy, but without will they change sides against each other. Hmm…

I think the diversion and deception was good, the questioning if they can even go home after all they have seen is also a good one, things that I am sure will be dealt with later in the story for sure.

The teamster got taken in, I am going to say this is part of the plan, the deception of them now thinking they have their target when in truth they don’t. Then they let off guard and thus the opening is created. Not sure, but the last line felt like the opening act, or the end of the prologue of the final act. I am curious how this final confrontation or series of them will play out. Masako also quite brutal huh?

Keiko feels a bit like a female Koichi from Jojo to me, nervous and easy to underestimate but rather dependable when it counts. I think that this continues the theme of build up, with the plan and the setup the requirements for the successful run, the goal to rescue and get the parents to a certain point to get them completely out. Which means of course things are going to fall apart before they get to that point most likely. It did a good job of setting up the defense of the castle too.

So this man-made place is the final fight, the black spire, that does feel like a final boss layer where one would fight some end game enemy. This chapter felt like more setup, which isn’t a bad thing at all for that final conflict, the setup of the where is rather important after all. ^_^

Okay so we got the flash back to the parents being good parents, that was good, it grounds them pretty well. I think the last line about who Masako was, if it was Masako or the prince, was an interesting part. It really brought back up the tension because we as readers have no clue and how much of this is the sword which feels like it is quite troublesome. I know that the action will be picking up most likely soon again, look forward to seeing where this all goes ^_^

Using family as the bait, that makes a lot of sense. I think the conversation about the why was really good in this chapter. Actually, I think the whole conversation between Akiko and Masako in this chapter was good. It tells again the difference in mindset between the two of them. Hiromi’s honesty at the end was also a nice touch.
