The whole no fight makes a lot more sense given that they know they can’t support such a large population in hiding. That makes a lot of sense. I think whatever that you have going with the emperor and his want for his son is really good stuff. I think that the story is doing a good job with the handling of that relationship as it kind of humanizes the emperor who wants something that he lost in the past once again. At least that is how it feels to me.

So Masako is at war with herself, her heart and her mind at odds, that I think will come back and be important later on. I have to admit I expected more of a battle here, but it makes sense, that they were defeated, and that having a larger battle would have not worked here in the grand scheme. The fact that Akiko isn’t captured is big but also sets up perhaps a rescue arc to follow this or a counter attack.

The group moving into the town makes sense, they seem to know most everything so dealing with this town which is small seems important. I think that we are building more for the action which I am going to guess is going to be really cool. I think the last line about Hiroshi was important or it feels super important given it ends the chapter. I am curious how that plays with elements moving forward.

The challenge with the armor was a nice curveball to the chapter. I think that having to fight in a unique way and the need for unique swords were good building blocks in this chapter. I think that the setup for a fight with the patrons leaving before the arrival of the meal at the end was a good way to signal that the fight is coming soon.

Masako was the child of the emperor reborn as a female. That is a complicating factor if true. I think the whole talk about the sword having its own will reminded me a bit of Enma from One Piece, though the confidence of the emperor that Masako can control tells you that Masako has great potential and I think this chapter again does more to build up to a confrontation later. I am curious what big or small role Keiko will play moving forward.

The setup for the soul blade in the past and the danger that it represents was really solidly done. Also the fact that you use that to transition to the present to show that the friend and I guess soon to be rival the sword is well handled as it sets them up as a great threat who will have to most likely be fought overcome and converted back to the side of good in the long run before they can defeat the emperor, the kind of Vader character in this story, who changes sides multiple time, just a guess. I think the build up with the blade world rather well to make it feel like a real threat.

Okay, so we have our big bad here, that is faster than I thought, but I am going to guess he is going to turn a friend on the rest of them, and create a threat there that will create some juicy drama in the future.

I think that the formula stuff and the advice to not go off the fly will be broken by someone, perhaps at a very costly price, but will be done. It feels like a thread the story will use in the future rightfully set up.

I think this very much was the training arc or training that I thought we would see, the figuring things out and having issues connecting with one’s past self.

Overall this felt like developing your powers and set up ideas for the future chapter and as such it works rather well.

Amberbrooke is the wise sage here, and this is the point where they are given more information, a definable goal to reawaken this old spirit of the dead dude and to defeat the enemy. That makes sense, they have a task, I am sure that isn’t going to be easy, they are in a new setting outside in the countryside, where perhaps they might get a bit of time to prepare.

I can almost smell the training arc coming along for this one, not sure, if it is but that is a guess, I will see soon if I am right or wrong with that.

I think this chapter does a lot of good, such as setting up the keys and goals for the rest of the story and establishing the situation better. It feels like an end of the start type of chapter and a move towards the main story thing.

Things are continuing to ramp up in the story, ever since chapter two and the one sense that was a bit more in the world with the students, things have been going out of control. Action picking up and tension growing as these three friends have a lot to deal with. I have a feeling we aren’t going to see normal lives again and that this might be a push towards through the whole story with the action mentality.

The action here feels to build well upon the action of the last chapters, the ending with the human sacrifice cult feels like they continue to jump from one hot pan into another one, creating this ongoing tension that moves across the story.

I think their lack of knowledge mixed with their innate skills makes for an interesting dynamic here, a story where things really are not quite what they appear on the cover. The handling of the guards, the logical thinking and the fact they all move so tactically. If it wasn’t clear all three were from other bodies reborn in this world that kind of sold it well. Now, the ending again created a good jumping off point for future scenes moving forward.

So that was a wild one, the opening is a hard cut to the action, the attack, that was rough for Akiko, to be in this world or her own world as a new person, and figured out and attacked so quickly. I am going to guess the school angle isn’t as important as the conflict here.

The realization of the past abilities, the battle and the struggle to deal with it are all naturally handled and are concerns that make total sense in the mind of the girl who has no clue why she is being targeted.

The ending with the disappearance of the friends is really bleak as well, things moving fast for her, first day of school with two friends to things turning on her within a short time and being attacked, this has not been an ideal time for Akiko at all. I am curious how you show this conflict moving forward with the story.

Normally when I read an Isekai it is born into a different world. Here it is the same world but reborn again, kind of like a reset of a game, just playing as a female teen instead of the former male soldier. That makes this off the bat a big unique style compared to the normal.

I think that you established the group of three friends pretty well, and went with the idea of starting them at the start of their year. That is always a solid move as the reader and them are both starting something new at the same time together.

I think the chapter does a solid job with its world building here, and gives us information about the world, such as the name of the empire. Also the fact they know that the mc was reborn which is also a tactic that isn’t normally gone into, at least by the enemies normally in the isekai making this again pretty unique.

It was a very solid start, you set up the empire rather well as a group who is very much not good. They are causing problems and Akira is someone who is very professional by the book it feels. I think that you do a good job of showing that he is a bit naive to the world he is in. When he comes to understand it, he is dejected by it and how that leads ultimately to his untimely end, as well as being killed by someone who just had orders like him. I am guessing someone predicted their change of heart ahead of time perhaps?
