as a reader, i personally find the beginning to be chaotic. now that either gets you hooked or dropping it. it entirely depends on the reader but I absolutely love how the pace picks up. This was not a read I could just relax and skim over, I was on edge and had to be attentive. I also enjoyed the flow of the chapter, it glides over smoothly, doesn't gives you the chance to look away.
ps. I love elves, so you had me hooked :3

now, as a writer.
the only thing i find it's missing for a first chapter, its a couple of dialogues? now take this as my personal preference. I have noticed that when chapters are heavy, especially for a first one, sometimes readers find it difficult to stay attentive without inner monologues, thoughts or any kind of dialogue. otherwise I would say it was a really strong start and i personally prefer strong starts :3
