it's interesting how much food is mentioned in the story. the contrast between the delicious food and the vile, inedible eldritch fish to attached to her back makes this somehow even more horrifying

being serious, i love the concept of a horror story about people waking up with mysterious fish attached to them. the bizarre body horror feels very junji ito-esque.

the rules say it is recommended to cap at 1500, but not a hard and fast rule! i hope 2000 is fine! i’m not as competitive as Takae, but seeing the fruits of my efforts would be nice.

i have a good reason for longer chapters and I think the judge should understand.

i’ve always found that 2000 word chapter lengths help me hit the story beats in a more satisfying way, with a clear beginning, middle, and end. weirdly enough, the extra length helps a lot with faster pacing because each chapter can stand alone.

i would be a little heartbroken myself if it was dq’d when the rules are written in way where it suggests such a word count isn’t mandatory 💔

i hope the judge can take that into consideration and look at the story based on its own merits 🙇‍♀️

we'll see! it's going to be a pretty short story with a lot of ground to cover, so I won't be able to go as in-depth about a lot of games as i'd like. but yes, i will have a card game club member or will add them in the future. :]
