I liked the atmospherics of the first chapter, especially early on when you contextualized the character through their relationship with the Church, which transitioned nicely into this conflict with functionally a false prophet. Personally, I'm not a big fan of sound effects replacing prose, and I found some of the confrontational dialogue in this second chapter a bit on the meandering side. Other than that, looking forward to more.

I like the inversion you did in Chp 2. I'm not really familiar with Isekai, but it was nice that you postponed the whole "person dies and is transported" for a brief period to familiarize us with the world. I actually think something like this should probably be more of the norm for this kind of thing.

It's kind of interesting how many influences you can see here, whether they're conscious or not from Foundation (Earth as a kind of fabled legend), Evangelion (Bastet moving on its own), and the sort of grand dramatic space opera tonal qualities like from LoGH or Gundam. There's something familiar but also distinct about how these elements blend together.

Been following along because I love cats, so cat stories make me happy. Just wanted to pop in and comment that black cats in Japan are often seen as symbols of good luck. I wouldn't usually be super concerned about it, but you write with Japanese characters, use a lot of Japanese mannerisms, so just for realism's sake, it is kind of jarring that you'd use like a more American/Eurocentric superstition of black cats in this instance. Just something to keep in mind when you like use cat trivia during the course of your story. Keep it up!

Liked the transition where you used the "macabre" festivities as a segway into some equally "macabre" horror/tragedy to be detailed in a later chapter. I guess the only thing that was mostly a pet peeve was just how transparently suspicious the men talking above Ven were. The dialogue there felt kind of artificial and seemed more to just signal to the reader that something was about to happen as opposed to something that could be said by them, if that makes any sense. Otherwise, I'll keep this bookmarked and will read more later.
