Didn't think I'd comment so soon after my scathing criticism of the main female lead, but yeah, this definitely improves the situation a lot, and I think I know why.
I think I just enjoy conversations more when both characters have power over their own voices, or if they don't, it's confidently explained. As such, I didn't like our previous engagements with the female lead because the main character didn't feel like he had much of a leg to stand on when talking to her, morally or in the conversation itself.
Here though, even if filled with a bit of false bravado, the male lead has a bit more charm to his dialogue that makes him feel as though he isn't just a punching bag for the female lead to spout insults at. Now there's depth to the conversation, as you're almost trying to deduce what the intentions of the female lead's motivations are, like a mystery. I definitely liked this chapter the most so far, and it's a great indicator that your story is really strong.
