Thank you for reading! And sorry about the r-slurs, you’re absolutely right about it being low hanging fruit in some respects, but the reason I never edited them out was because I wanted to show the lack of social progress in the book’s world despite ostensibly taking place in the future/show the theme of eugenics. Not trying to excuse how ableist it comes off, and I also want to mention that I did feel iffy about it—it was a decision that was really 50/50 even till the last moment (like how I edited every ‘f-word’ out of WIW but not GEP) but the end I decided to stick to characters casually slinging those types of insults. I can’t go back to edit the book now so it is what it is, but definitely a very valid point.
