Part of what I was going for was someone who's stuck in their own warped perspective. Their simplistic and repetitive language to me is an unwillingness to confront their issues reasonably and truly introspect about their negative feelings. It also makes the perspective feel more ridiculous and fantastic. I want it to read like neurosis.
Now, is that a convenient excuse for someone who doesn't have a lot of experience with this kind of writing? Sure.
I figure it's better to rely on something more simple and lean into what I know currently. I have a bad habit of being so ambitious I never write anything.
