Chapter 8:
To the day when I will finally look forward to Tomorrow
Ah, my head feels like it is about to blow up.
She gets out of bed and downs half a liter of coffee like it was nothing.
2 weeks before Christmas, Haru got dumped by yet another man. The 4th one this year alone. She has been out every night in shady clubs, partying her mind away since then. Nah, she was doing this even before; only the frequency has increased.
"I just want to get married and not have to do anything for the rest of my life. Why is this world so against me?"
At 28 years old, she was getting desperate. She was making a living off of men who would pay for her company, but the preference for younger women in the industry was starting to affect her.
That night, she was taken to a seedy part of the city by another client, but when he asked her to pay half of the hotel bill, she just left.
While walking around, she saw a park nearby and decided to stay there for a drink.
That's when she met him. Working out alone on Christmas Eve.
A serious, above-average-looking, extremely lonely guy. Possibly the perfect prey for somebody like her.
But she decided to change the approach. This time, she will not demand even the slightest thing. Not until the deal is sealed, at least.
Haru: "Excuse me, but you will catch a cold like that."
...
3 months later, she wakes up next to ----. Except for some slip-ups, she has been dedicating herself to him.
And yet, nothing. What is up with this idiot? Men would usually ask me to date them after only 3 dates where they spoil me rotten. Is there something wrong with him?
Haru: "Good morning"
*rolls over*
Haru: "I was talking to you"
"Not now, too early"
THE NERVE OF THIS GUY
Crying? Really? Is this what I have to put up with now?
...
6 MONTHS AND NOTHING! That's it, there is no way he will refuse me, I am going all in. Until tomorrow ends, he will be mine.
She called him and they met up. She had the whole plan ready.
During the date, everything went smoothly, she may have even treated him better than usual.
Haru: "What do you want to eat?"
I hate it
Haru: "Do you want to see a movie"
I am sick of this
Haru: "Is there any place you want to go to?"
JUST ASK ME ALREADY!
Nothing. Nothing I do gets to him. Is he just stupid. It can't be, maybe he is the one playing me?
It has been 6 whole months. I haven't stayed with a man that much since college. Do I really have to go and look for another man now.
I hate this. I hate him. I should just ghost him.
No. I should just disappear and out of nowhere send him videos of me with another man when he is at his lowest. If you can't see what is in front of you, then you will look back and regret it!
No, calm down. One more day. That is the limit. I will be the one laughing. I promise you.
Haru: "We should go together to a hotel today"
...
That night, Haru couldn't sleep at all. She was in pain. Was it anger? Frustration? She didn't know. She was tired. Tired of trying. She knew what she was doing was wrong, but she didn't care one bit.
...
The next day went like any other date. Haru had decided. If he was not going to do anything, she will just directly ask him.
That night. She took him by the hand.
Her heart was pounding. She could feel it all the way to her fingertips. Was it the pressure of a confession? Was it the anger of having to do everything herself? It may have just been the excitement that came with thinking about how she was going to take one of the final steps towards the parasitic life she has been wishing for.
Prior to asking the question, she felt like she was about to faint, her whole body was burning like she was having a panic attack.
She couldn't even control her breathing. This was clearly more than just excitement, but this was not the time for her to pay any mind to it. It was now or never.
Haru: "So, what am I to you?"
When she asked that, her heart felt like it was about to explode.
No, something actually exploded. She suddenly saw the world from a couple of meters higher than she was used to.
She saw an explosion, two, three, more than she could count.
The whole world was in flames. Everything was blowing up. Everything was burning.
What some would describe as hell, was happening before her very eyes.
Before she could even understand what was going on, everything went dark.
The next thing she knew, she was in the middle of a forest.
