Chapter 688: The Chase into Battle

Narrator: Back with Zeth, Sasha, and Dusk.

In the backstage area, Zeth uses a Star Shine Blast to blow a hole in the wall that leads to outside of the base. Zeth, Sash, and Dusk all look outside.

Sasha: “There they are. I can see them in the distance. We need to catch them.”

Dusk: “Couldn’t we just blast them from this distance and be done with it? We won’t catch them before they get to the pyramid.”

Sasha: “No! I want to talk to Madeena. Unlike Ronzic, she is not a lost cause.”

Zeth: “Then let’s get moving!”

They all jump out of the hole in the wall and fall multiple stories down to the ground. As soon as they land, they begin running. They talk as they run.

Zeth: “Given that I have been locked up during all of this, what exactly do you see in that woman? She is the blue-eyed dark divine being that you mentioned in your note, correct?”

Sasha: “Yes. She is a dark divine being with eyes that are naturally blue instead of black.”

Zeth: “Okay, but why should we spare her and risk something bad happening?”

Sasha: “She is simply misguided. She is being manipulated by Ronzic. I believe that I can save her so I must talk with her!”

Dusk: “As one of your followers, I trust you more than anyone so I hope your judgment is correct.”

Zeth: “Nobody has mentioned a dark divine being having blue eyes until we got here, so I wonder if there is a hidden meaning to it.”

Sasha: “I’m hoping to find out if there is any significance. Clearly, Ronzic feels she is of great importance to his plans.”

As they continue to run, Lavana and Herbie catch up to them from behind.

Herbie: “We saw you guys, so we decided to tag along.”

Lavana: “And I have succeeded in covering the slave grounds with lava so they won’t be having any more slave work done here for quite a while.”

Sasha: “Nice work. We’re closing in on finishing this. I’m not sure about Laura and Biff but we are chasing Ronzic and Madeena.”

Herbie: “I believe that I saw that Pearl and the others are fighting them currently. Can’t tell you how it’s going, though.”

Herbie looks over at Dusk.

Herbie: “Nice going, you moron! You put this entire operation in jeopardy by getting caught! We can’t trust you with anything!”

Dusk: “Yeah, whatever. My mission was going perfectly until Ronzic just so happened to have shown up. You wouldn’t have done any better.”

Dusk’s words strike a nerve with Herbie.

Herbie: (Speaking with annoyance) “What was that, you bastard!?”

Sasha: (Speaking angrily) “Knock it off, you two! Now!”

Dusk and Herbie: (Speaking with fear and obedience) “Y-Yes, ma’am!”

Lavana shrugs. Lavana: “You two will never learn, will you?”

Zeth points forward.

Zeth: “Sasha, look! We’re catching up to Madeena!”

They all look ahead and see that Madeena is unable to keep up with Ronzic.

Sasha: “It makes sense that she can’t keep up with Ronzic but you’d think he would try to help her keep pace.”

Lavana: “My impression of Ronzic is that he cares only about himself. I can’t wait for that guy to finally taste dirt.”

Dusk: “The pyramid is also in view. Ronzic is going to get there before we catch him.”

Sasha: “Maybe so, but I will catch Madeena before she gets there. I’m going to talk to her, so I want the rest of you to confront Ronzic.”

Zeth: “Right. Leave it to us.”

As they get close to Madeena, Sasha begins shouting at her.

Sasha: “Madeena! Please wait! Let’s talk!”

Madeena looks back over her shoulder to see the heroes. She immediately turns her head back forward and keeps running with a more nervous expression on her face.

Sasha: “We can talk this out!”

Sasha rushes even harder and soon gets within a few feet of Madeena.

Sasha: “Just listen to me, Madeena!”

Madeena: (Shouting defiantly) “No!”

As Sasha closes in on Madeena, Ronzic reaches the pyramid and runs in through the entrance.

Just moments later, Sasha lunges forward and tackles Madeena to the ground. Sasha immediately looks back at Zeth, Lavana, Dusk, and Herbie.

Sasha: (Shouting) “Go! Get into that pyramid and stop him!!”

Zeth: “We got this!”

Zeth, Lavana, Dusk, and Herbie run past Sasha and Madeena and soon reach the pyramid entrance. They immediately go inside with no hesitation.

Sasha looks at Madeena.

Sasha: “We need to talk. This is not what you think it is. None of this.”

Madeena: “No!”

Madeena uses her foot to push Sasha off of her and then stands up. Sasha also stands on her feet.

Sasha: “This is important. You have to listen to me.”

Madeena grits her teeth in nervousness as a drop of sweat drips down from her forehead.

Narrator: Inside the pyramid.

Zeth, Lavana, Dusk, and Herbie all enter a very large room in the pyramid that includes a ground floor but also platforms to two higher floors. Ronzic stands on a platform at the second-floor level.

Zeth: “We’ve got you cornered now. Whatever you were planning, it won’t help you now.”

Ronzic: “So the piece of light trash wants to challenge me? Along with three… heretics.”

Herbie: “Your rules blow! You are not a good leader!”

Ronzic: “Is that what you think? I must say that I am impressed you laid out this grand scheme right under my nose.”

Zeth: “It would have been a lot harder if you weren’t so naïve. Sasha has been secretly feeding us information this whole time. She is the one that really put it together.”

Ronzic: “I suppose so. Given I only have experience on this planet, the very idea that light and dark could be together, much less married, was beyond my comprehension. That said, I’m also impressed by her stealth capabilities. But I also must ask this question… What exactly was your plan for defeating me? You can ruin my base, free my slaves, and kill my followers, but you would still have to face me. If you did all of those things and still could not defeat me, all that would happen is that my ultimate plans would just be delayed, not stopped.”

Zeth: “You sure seem to look at yourself as all high and mighty. We didn’t get this far in our journey by being weak. You have no idea what we are fully capable of.”

Ronzic raises an eyebrow as he responds. Ronzic: “Oh really?”

Ronzic drops through the floor and then drops through the ground.

Lavana: “Zeth, he uses magic that allows him to merge with things so watch out!”

Zeth: “I’m aware. I saw him do it before.”

As soon as Zeth finishes his sentence, Ronzic jumps out from the ground and uppercuts Zeth to the chin and follows that up by kicking him back against a wall, doing some damage.

Dusk: “You bastard!”

Dusk tries to punch Ronzic but he just goes back into the ground and reemerges behind Dusk. Ronzic kicks Dusk in the back to knock him away as Lavana and Herbie attempt to attack from two different sides. Ronzic jumps and kicks both of them in the face to stop their attacks. He goes back into the ground and then reemerges on one of the second-floor platforms.

Ronzic: “Do you see now? It’s hopeless.”

Narrator: Sasha has confronted Madeena while Zeth, Lavana, Dusk, and Herbie has begun their fight with Ronzic! Can the four of them defeat Ronzic without more help!?
