Chapter 8:
The Quietus Cloud, The Witch Curve, and The Five - A mathematical, historical, and philosophical tale set in a world where the sun is about to end and a cloud covers the entire earth in eternal twilight
At that time, I was driving my car, which was running on automatic driver mode. I, who was sitting in the driver's seat at that time, was busy operating my gadget to read the news about the incident that had just happened to Mr. Warm. From several news portals, some had written about the possibility that Mr. Warm's death was due to suicide.
Mr. Warm killed himself? Is it true that Mr. Warm committed suicide? Although it seems unreasonable to me, it is not impossible. I think it's possible that behind Mr. Warm's daily behavior that people know, he could be hiding something that can only be found if we are Mr. Warm himself.
I muttered again, "Mr. Warm doesn't mind his moniker, nor does he mind his insignia jokes. He doesn't seem to have any burden that makes him depressed to the point of committing suicide. But maybe... Maybe the persona of 'The Joker' is like the reflective film glass that exists in many cars, including my car?"
It seems that there is still no clear light from the many news stories that have been circulating. One of the few pieces of information that has been spread is that poison was reportedly found in Mr. Warm's body. But what kind of poison, the estimated dosage of poison, and when the poison was given—there is no clear information about such things.
The authorities have only issued a few official statements regarding this case. But of course that is a better choice. If the authorities rush to issue a statement, the situation could get worse.
The police's attitude was in stark contrast to the netizens who poured out their various responses. There were various colors of responses from netizens. Some expressed condolences, shock, hope that this was not a bad sign, and so on.
Some comments agreed that it seemed like a suicide, such as, “Former members of the Five make the Five the center of figures once again, but this time in a tragic way.” “What is the meaning of that big chair-like device? Did Wissenmeister Herzwarm commit suicide in the lake with a murder chair that he made himself?” “What a strange way to commit suicide. Maybe Wissenmeister Herzwarm had a message behind this?”
There were also comments about the gap between the minds of ordinary people and geniuses, such as, “Maybe this is the problem of geniuses, that sometimes we find it difficult to understand what they feel—and therefore we find it difficult to help them.” “In the country where I live now, not long ago, there was also a brilliant mathematician named Mr. Taniyama who died by suicide. I agree that it is probably not easy to understand geniuses, it is difficult to be their friend, and they feel lonely no matter how rich or smart they are.”
Of course, some expressed suspicions about Mr. Warm's death: "They said it was suspected to be a suicide? Is that true? I'm not someone close to Wissenmeister Herzwarm; I've only had a little interaction with him, but from that little interaction, it doesn't make sense that he committed suicide."
Another comment said, "That's right. Also, look at his background. Former highest member of the Five, then successful in his OSHI business. Then committed suicide? Honestly, that's suspicious."
Some netizens point their fingers at other countries: “It could be that the perpetrators are foreigners! Or that some of the citizens of this country are secret agents of a foreign country!” “Look at those Sovetskich people; they could be the masterminds!” “The Sovetskich were probably worried that the Wissenmesiter Herzwarm was creating a device that would destroy their trade and military.” “I suspect that the brains behind this incident are the people of Blighty!” “I agree those Blighty brats are the most suspicious. It could be that they are trying to trigger a war with this incident. This could be a bad sign!”
Another response also agreed that there was something behind the dark cloud that covered the clarity of the chronology of Mr. Warm's death: "It seems that there is something as thick as the Quietus Cloud covering this case."
"I smell something fishy. Two brothers who claimed to be fishing in the lake were the first witnesses to see Mr. Herzwarm's body... The problem is that no one saw them." Comments like that made me review the information that had been revealed so far regarding the chronology of the discovery of the body.
Two people first witnessed Mr. Warm's body in Hinter Lake. They were two siblings named Agnes Berwal Hausmannin and Stilzche Ruland Hausmannin. They found the horrific thing at around 15:44—at that time, I was still jogging towards Raustrat Hill.
As soon as they saw it, they immediately reported it to the police. The police, who arrived at the scene as quickly as they could, immediately secured the crime scene. They put up police lines and also a drone protection screen so that no drones could spy on the place from a height.
The two witnesses reportedly came to Hinter Lake for recreational fishing. I have checked the social media accounts of the two people; it seems that they do indeed like fishing. They seem to have been doing this fishing activity for years. In addition, it seems that they have often tried fishing in various remote places.
The siblings live in the northern part of the Federal Republic of Deutschtonia. They had no criminal record whatsoever. They reportedly come from a well-off family. According to reports from several journalists, they did not have any financial problems such as debts, gambling problems, and the like.
Besides, if the siblings were after Mr. Warm's property, why bother reporting it to the police? Why use a suspiciously large stool-like object—which I have not seen what the object in question looks like—when it was said that Mr. Warm had been poisoned? What was the object for? Was it for ‘some kind of ritual’ using the victim’s body?
Inevitably, I remembered the execution of elderly people who were considered unable to take care of themselves, carried out on Raustrat Hill. Weren’t the elderly who were executed intoxicated with a neurotoxic plant before being thrown off a steep cliff?
Thinking about all these points, I remembered the organization that received a lot of donations from the Felsenmann family, an organization that hated the Five. The organization was called “the Fates,” or in our language it was called “die Schicksale.” They were a group of people who had a certain political and philosophical belief system—the Fates could be said to be a sect.
