Chapter 13: The Observer

From below, Zeth and Sasha look up at Harmona and Dakame standing on the cliff edge.

Harmona and Dakame finally notice each other, previously unaware of each other’s presence.

“You!?” Harmona shouts in surprise.

“What are you doing here, Harmona!?” Dakame asks in surprise.

They both shout something at the same time. Harmona shouts, “You must be here to pick up Zeth and Sasha!” while Dakame shouts, “You must be here to pick up Sasha and Zeth!”

They both then shout at the same time again. Harmona shouts, “I knew it! Zeth has gone to the other side!” while Dakame shouts, “I knew it! Sasha has gone to the other side!”

Zeth scratches his head, noticing how dumb their exchange is. “This is just one big miscommunication.”

Sasha grits her teeth in frustration. She yells, “Look! We’re not on either side! So let us through!”

Finally ending their shouting exchange, both Harmona and Dakame turn their attention down at Sasha.

“Not going to happen!” Dakame replies in anger.

“Heresy will not be tolerated!” Harmona states, looking disapprovingly at Sasha.

Both Harmona and Dakame jump off the cliff and land on the ground below to face Zeth and Sasha.

Zeth stares at them with a serious expression. “Then we’ll just have to blow through you both, just like everyone else!”

Zeth and Sasha rush toward them. Zeth tries to punch Harmona while Sasha tries to jump-kick Dakame. However, both Harmona and Dakame block the attacks with their arms.

“Your Soul Power is impressive…” Harmona says, her words trailing as she starts her counterattack.

She grabs onto Zeth’s face and then gut punches him with her other hand. She finishes by slamming him to the ground.

“…But not enough to overcome me!” Harmona shouts as she finishes her attack. “As your mother, I know all of your tricks and you’ve got a long way before you catch up to my battle experience.”

Zeth winces in pain, still on the ground.

Meanwhile, Dakame releases a barrage of black rain at Sasha. Each drop deals damaging blows to her. Dakame then pounds her into the ground, the force of the punch causing a small crater to form.

“I’m taking you into custody,” Harmona declares. “I want to get to the bottom of your heresy.”

Zeth grits his teeth and furrows his brows as he tries to lift himself off the ground. “We’ll see about that.”

He releases his soul residue, slightly harming Harmona.

As Zeth begins his attack, he shouts, “Star Shine Uppercut!”

Zeth’s right arm glows with power, and he hits Harmona in the chin, knocking her upward.

Zeth then releases his Chains of Heaven and wraps around one of Harmona’s arms, using the chains to slam Harmona farther away.

Meanwhile, Sasha’s newly summoned Hell Serpent wraps around Dakame. With a sadistic smile, Sasha looks at Dakame.

“Strangle her until her insides are crushed,” Sasha demands.

Zeth yells for Sasha. “Come on! Let’s get climbing!”

Sasha’s sadistic face returns to a more cautious one as she responds. “Right!”

They jump as high as they can on the cliffside and start climbing.

Harmona releases a wave of her magic energy to destroy the chain that Zeth wrapped around her arm while Dakame cuts off the end of the Hell Serpent’s body using only her hand.

“You won’t leave!” Harmona shouts.

“You’re not going anywhere!” Dakame declares.

Harmona forms and releases a Star Shine Blast while Dakame forms and releases a giant black raindrop. Both attacks head straight for Zeth and Sasha, hitting the cliffside just above where they are climbing. The blast from the Star Shine Blast causes them to lose their grip, and a barrage of black rain falls from above as the giant raindrop breaks into many smaller ones. Zeth and Sasha fall back to the ground as the black rain hits them.

Harmona begins approaching them. As her sadness covers her face, she says, “Please, Zeth. Do you know how much it hurts me to have to hurt my own child like this? Just stop. Turn yourself in without resistance.”

“If it hurts you, then just let us go!!” Zeth yells, venting his frustration.

Dakame approaches them from a different angle. As disappointment covers her face, she says. “I had high hopes for you, Sasha. I can’t believe you would ruin everything.”

“I don’t care what you wanted from me! I am my own person!” Sasha roars.

Zeth thinks to himself. “We can’t win a direct head-on battle against both of them. Mom thinks she knows all of my tricks, but she doesn’t. I will just have to think like a crazy teenager. She can’t know things that are developed on the fly.”

Zeth whispers something to Sasha, who then nods her head.

Smiling, Sasha says, “That’s so crazy that I love it.” She spreads her arms out wide as she continues. “Alright. Come forth, Ultensmite!”

Sasha summons Ultensmite, who rises from a summoning ring on the ground in front of her.

Zeth and Sasha both jump on top of Ultensmite, leaning over the top of its head.

Dakame raises an eyebrow, impressed with Sasha’s ability. “Hell’s ultimate creature…”

“What are you doing!?” Harmona asks with urgency.

Zeth forms a Soul Super Nova star while Sasha holds out her right arm, charging her own attack. Zeth holds his Super Nova star in front of her hands.

Ready to put their plan into action, Sasha says, “Ultensmite, when I say jump, I want you to jump as high as you can.”

Harmona and Dakame appear concerned, starting to charge their own attacks.

“Jump!!” Sasha shouts.

Ultensmite jumps, and at the same time, Zeth and Sasha angle their combined attack downwards. Sasha releases a Demon Soul Beam, pushing Zeth’s Super Nova star down toward the ground.

Harmona releases a Shooting Star, and Dakame releases a Sphere of Demons. Both attacks collide with Zeth’s and Sasha’s combined attack, causing a massive explosion to go off in the area. The explosion actually pushes Ultensmite even higher in the air.

Zeth fist pumps, grinning with excitement. “Yes!! It worked!!”

“Wait!!” Sasha yells in concern. “The explosion is going up too fast!!

The explosion, rising faster than Ultensmite, soon envelops Ultensmite too. Soon, the explosion stops rising before it reaches the top of the cliff. The explosion engulfs the ground, part of the cliffside, and nearly up to the top of the cliff.

Soon, the explosion ends entirely. It destroyed some of the cliffside below, leaving the top pretty unstable. However, Zeth and Sasha have grabbed on to the cliffside close to the top, but they are also heavily injured with blood wounds all over. Their Soul Power has also ended. They are both breathing heavily.

Panting, Sasha says, “Thankfully, I unsummoned Ultensmite before he took too much of a blow. Zeth and Sasha look like they are struggling just to hold on.

Panting, Zeth says, “Almost there…”

Zeth and Sasha, slowly and struggling, start trying to climb the very little that is left of the cliffside to the top. Down below, Harmona and Dakame are both collapsed in a large crater. They are alive but are extremely injured.

Harmona clenches her hand in the dirt. “No…”

Zeth and Sasha continue to climb slowly, determination etched on their faces, even in their severely injured states. After a difficult climb, they finally reach the top, struggling just to finish pulling themselves up. Once they do, they both just fall over face forward on the ground. Their bodies tremble as they start to get up again and look forward. They see an altar with a large metal circle, but in front of that are Pearl and Salina. Both of them have a sad expression as they look at Zeth and Sasha.

Panting, Zeth says, “Pearl… Don’t tell me you’re here to stop us after all…”

Panting, Sasha says, “Salina… Just let us go… Please…”

Both Pearl and Salina start to move one of their arms, concerning Zeth and Sasha as they stare. However, Pearl and Salina each do a hand-on-belly bow down to show respect to Zeth and Sasha, surprising both of them.

“We have come to fully understand your feelings for each other,” Pearl says, still bowing.

“It is our fault you are even in this situation,” Salina says, still bowing.

“So, please find happiness together in the Dimension of Deities.” Pearl finishes.

Upon fully standing, Zeth and Sasha slowly walk forward, their injuries hampering them.

Pearl and Salina end their bow and start to activate the portal. Pearl pulls a switch, activating the portal.

Zeth and Sasha stand in front of the portal. Pearl and Salina each start shedding tears, but they do smile.

“I guess this is goodbye,” Pearl says, tears flowing down her cheeks.

“Take care, Pearl. Make sure you find happiness too,” Zeth replies, smiling at her.

“Be safe, Sasha. I will hold down the fort, so to speak,” Salina says, trying to keep her composure.

“Salina… I’m glad you were my caretaker growing up.” Sasha replies, smiling at her.

Zeth and Sasha start walking into the portal.

Zeth holds up his arm, waving goodbye. “Bye. Maybe we will meet again someday.”

Zeth and Sasha fully enter the portal. Pearl and Salina close the portal immediately after.

“Yes, suddenly, I do have the feeling that we will see each other again one day,” Pearl murmurs with a smile.

Inside the Dimension of Deities.

A portal opens, and Zeth and Sasha exit from it. They are in a town with a large dark yellow pyramid in the middle of it. There are many deities walking throughout the town. The sky is a dark, misty blue color.

Zeth and Sasha are still weak from battle, but they hug each other.

Zeth emotionally says, “We did it! We made it to the Dimension of Deities and get to start our new lives together!”

“We’ve got so much we can do now! I’m excited!” Sasha responds with similar emotion.

While they still hug, Zeth takes in his new surroundings. “I guess we'd better also figure out what we are going to be deities of.”

Sasha smiles and nods. “Yeah.”

They then kiss each other, their lips passionately meeting.

The view of their kiss starts to zoom out until it appears like it’s being watched on a TV screen. The view zooms out even more until a lit fireplace can be seen. The view finishes zooming out once a full room that is dimly lit, with the only light coming from the lit fireplace, can be seen.

There is a person sitting in a chair, the view of him is from behind and to the side. Though, it’s too dark to make out any details of him. He has been watching the TV screen to see what has been going on. In the same view of the room, a female fairy flies into the room, The fairy is 6 inches tall. She has medium-length red hair and wears a purple dress.

The fairy shouts, “Hey! Listen! Did you find out what you wanted to know?”

“I’ve checked in on an alternate universe to see if Zeth and Sasha could destroy each other. That didn’t happen, but it does seem they will destroy even people they care about for the sake of each other,” the mysterious man says.

“Ooooh. That sounds interesting,” the fairy replies.

From the same view of the room, something jumps on top of the chair the man is sitting on. It’s the baby reborn Bennu.

The fairy grins. “Bennu seems excited too.”

“Yes, after all, Zeth and Sasha killed Bennu during our Mars test experiment. Too bad for them that Bennu is a phoenix and can’t be permanently killed that easily,” the mysterious man says.

The fairy puts a finger to her chin. “So, I assume you have a new plan to deal with Zeth and Sasha?”

“Yes. I will put it into action soon.”

Both the man and the fairy start laughing sinisterly.

The man’s laugh is like a hum. “Hmhmhmhmhmhm.”

The fairy’s laugh is a pure, loud laugh. “Hahahahahahaha!”

Narrator: Zeth and Sasha have escaped to the Dimension of Deities, and this alternate universe story has come to an end. But what is this final scene about? What is going on?

AUTHOR’S NOTE: The mysterious man’s name is Rom, and the fairy’s name is Raylee. Their names have been confirmed in the main story, but at the time that I wrote this alternate universe story, their names had not yet been mentioned in the main story. I decided to keep it to how I originally wrote that final scene for this web posting.
