The final trial begins!

Solen charges his magic, his aura fiery like the sun.

“Ready? Begin!” Solen shouts.

Zaydra and Maiyo both rush toward Solen. Zaydra charges her arms with powerful magic energy while Maiyo uses his magic to coat his arms in metal. Zaydra strikes first, her fist slamming into Solen’s face. However, Zaydra feels her fist burning and quickly retracts it, a thin layer of smoke rising from her hand.

Solen chuckles. “Your punch hurt, but you will have to do better than that.”

“Allow me to take the next step!” Maiyo states with determination.

With his arms coated in magic-reinforced metal, Maiyo thrusts both of his arms forward, trying to punch Solen. However, the fiery aura that covers Solen shoots backward, taking Solen with it.

Maiyo opens his eyes wide in surprise. “Your aura launched you backward to dodge my attack!?”

Solen smirks. “Consider my aura a giant fireball that can shoot itself in all directions. Now, come on! Show me everything you two have learned!”

Zaydra activates Star Light Shield and jumps forward, trying to kick Solen. His fiery aura shoots off to the right, causing her kick to miss.

Zaydra thinks to herself. “His aura is like a more advanced Raging Star Mode. It can damage you just by touching it, and it can launch the user around with ease. I wonder… could I do something like that?”

Maiyo jumps upward and thrusts his metal-coated arms forward. The metal covering his arms shatters and shoots forward, flying in waves toward Solen that will hit him no matter which way he goes.

Solen crosses his arms and takes the hits from all the pieces in his path.

“Now, this!” Maiyo shouts as he launches forward while curled up. His whole body becomes coated in metal, turning him into a powerful metal ball. Solen does not have enough time to react, allowing Maiyo to slam directly into him. Solen’s aura vanishes as he falls to the ground.

Maiyo uncurls himself and twists his body in a little dance move. “That was magnificent!”

“Don’t let your guard down,” Solen urges as he grabs Maiyo by the ankle and uses his other hand to launch a basketball-sized sun directly into Maiyo’s body.

The sun blasts Maiyo back, burning through the metal coating his skin, until he collides with a pillar. The pillar falls over as the sun dissipates. Maiyo holds onto his abdomen in pain. “Such heat! Such pain! He is right! I let my guard down! How not-magnificent of me!”

Solen reforms his fiery aura around his body. “That is where you must improve, Maiyo. Enthusiasm is a fine trait, but don’t let it distract you. Now, let’s see how—”

Solen is interrupted as a Raging Star Blast hits him directly and explodes. As the smoke clears, new wounds on his body become visible.

“Maybe you should listen to your own advice,” Zaydra says with amusement.

Zaydra stands on the arena while in Raging Star Mode, her aura tearing at the tiles beneath her feet.

“Hmhmhmhm. Yes, you are right.” Solen says, finding the irony funny. “But now that you have my full attention, try this!”

Solen rapidly throws six basketball-sized suns at Zaydra. As the suns head toward her, she smirks. “Watch this.”

Zaydra thrusts her left arm to the side, surprisingly launching herself to the left, avoiding all six suns.

Solen opens his eyes wide and begins applauding her. “Very good, Zaydra! To think you could watch what my aura does and then have your aura do the same thing! Very impressive.”

“It’s still not as good as yours since mine can’t go in the air like yours can, but I will take the compliment,” Zaydra says.

Maiyo stands up from the knocked-over pillar. He speaks to himself in awe. “She got that idea just by watching him!? How truly magnificent! Hmhmhm. I don’t think this battle will need to go any further to know who will be chosen.”

Solen turns around to focus on Maiyo, his eyes filled with surprise. “Are you surrendering, Maiyo?”

“Hmhmhm. Yes, I am. My abilities are impressive, but I can’t do what she just did. It’s clear to me that she is a perfect match to inherit your power.”

Solen raises an eyebrow. “Are you absolutely certain? There will be no going back.”

Maiyo once again twists his body a bit as he performs a small dance move. He replies, smiling, “Yes, I am. No regrets.”

Solen smiles back and then turns around to face Zaydra. “Then it’s settled. Zaydra, you shall become my successor as Deity of Suns.”

Zaydra drops to one knee, bowing. “I am honored. I will use your power well.”

Maiyo smiles. “Congratulations. Your magnificence may even be greater than mine. You are a worthy rival.”

Zaydra has succeeded in becoming Solen’s successor with Maiyo’s surrender! What is in store for Zaydra now?
