Chapter 720: The Tyrant Alternate Universe

Beyond The Stars

Chapter 720: The Tyrant Alternate Universe

A purple portal opens up in a rocky area with no plant life. Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith step out of the portal, which then immediately closes. They take a look at their surroundings. A dark green sky overlooks the entire area, the ground is rough and highly elevated, and a city stands tall in the nearby area at a lower elevation.

“Is this Earth in an alternate universe?” Harmona wonders.

“Why is the sky dark green?” Zaydra asks. “If this is just Earth in an alternate universe, the sky should still be blue, right?”

“You’re assuming that we know the rules of alternate universes,” Keith replies.

“We’re in uncharted territory,” Harmona says, filled with unease. “We can’t make any assumptions in an alternate universe.”

A spherical bot flies out from the city straight for Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith. The bot is no bigger than a basketball and has a single circular lens in the middle of its gray metal body.

“What’s that?” Zaydra asks.

“Some kind of futuristic flying robot?” Keith adds with uncertainty.

Once the bot arrives, it hovers in place as a medium-sized monitor lowers out from the bot’s bottom side.

Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith stare at it with their full attention.

The monitor’s screen activates, showing Tyrant Zeth on it.

“Welcome to my Earth,” Tyrant Zeth says proudly. “I hope you three enjoy your stay here.”

“How rude of you to not give a tour to your new guests…” Harmona says sarcastically.

Tyrant Zeth laughs. “You’re right. That is quite rude of me. Why don’t I make it up to you by telling you about this Earth? You see, my beloved wife, Sasha, and I conquered this world by killing both you and the dark goddess, Dakame.”

Harmona thinks to herself. “So, Zeth and Sasha are together even in this universe…”

Tyrant Zeth continues, “You are free to explore this world however you wish, but you may want to watch your step.” He laughs as the monitor raises back into the bot, which then flies away.

Zaydra grits her teeth. “He’s really pissing me off!”

“He’s pretty arrogant, I must say,” Keith adds, scratching his head.

“It’s intentional,” Harmona says. “It’s all a mental game to cause us to make mistakes. At any rate, we should start by going to that nearby city.”

The three of them begin walking, heading in the city’s direction. They only take a few steps before the ground beneath their feet lights up. They look down, opening their eyes wide.

“Watch out!” Harmona shouts.

They jump back a bit as multiple blasts of blue magic energy shoot up from the ground.

“Is this what he meant by watching our step!?” Zaydra asks, urgency in her voice.

“Yeah… not a fan of this,” Keith mumbles.

Harmona glances at Zaydra and Keith and motions her right arm forward. “Let’s keep going forward. There is almost certainly more of those landmines, but we need to move forward when we dodge, not back.”

They continuously jump forward, quickly jumping to different spots on the ground whenever they trigger a landmine. Soon, they reach a lower elevation, bringing an end to the rocky terrain with landmines.

Keith wipes sweat from his forehead, sighing, “I’m glad we navigated that without incident. I feel like I need a—”

Zaydra interrupts him. “Don’t you dare say it!”

Keith rolls his eyes. “Alright, alright. Sheesh.”

“Stop getting distracted!” Harmona yells. “We have a new problem.”

Zaydra and Keith react the same way. “Huh?”

They focus their attention ahead and see a horde of zombies gathered and walking toward them. The zombies seem to be comprised of different body parts from mortals, angels, and demons. Their skin rots, maggots crawling out of any holes.

Keith clenches his jaw, his eyes trembling. “Yikes! Mutant zombies!”

“It’s like someone stitched together different parts from different people to make these! Gross!!” Zaydra shouts with disgust.

“Think about it later! Fight now!” Harmona yells.

The zombies collectively charge toward them, moving unevenly due to the different bodies used to make them.

Harmona rushes forward to meet them head-on, charging powerful magic energy into her right fist. She slams her fist into a zombie, obliterating the top half of its body.

“Compared to us, they’re not that strong!” Harmona shouts.

Zaydra grins as she forms a basketball-sized sun in her hand. “This should take care of them!”

She releases the sun. Upon impact with a zombie, it completely incinerates many of them as it bursts into flames.

Keith leaps into the air and aims his arms downward, releasing a large beam of red demonic energy. The blast obliterates all zombies caught in it.

Harmona forms a Star Shine Blast and releases it, blowing away all remaining zombies.

Keith lands back on the ground as the three of them stare at the zombies’ remains.

Keith dusts off his hands. “Well, that was easy.”

“These zombies came off as simple experiments. They should be easy for us,” Zaydra replies.

“We’re going to that city now,” Harmona declares. “Let’s go.”

10 minutes later.

Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith all enter the city. The city is made up of steel buildings with plenty of skyscrapers. However, the buildings, sidewalks, and roads are all in poor condition, cracked, and filled with rodents scurrying about. People walk throughout the city, but their eyes are droopy, filled with depression as if they haven’t had anything to be happy about in a long time.

Harmona, Zaydra, and Keith dart their eyes in all directions, taking everything in.

“This city is in such bad shape…” Zaydra mutters.

“These people look like they could all use a drink,” Keith adds.

“For once, I won’t criticize you on that,” Zaydra replies. “They really do look like they could use a drink.”

“As Earth’s Light Goddess, seeing all of this makes me sick,” Harmona states.

A large group of people exits a building and walks on the sidewalk further into the city.

“Where could they be headed as such a large group?” Zaydra wonders.

“I have a feeling we’re not going to like the answer,” Harmona replies.

They follow the group of people, trying to avoid getting too close. The group of people soon enters a large, buildingless section in the center of the city. They join many other people, who are on their knees, bowing before two massive statues of Tyrant Zeth and Tyrant Sasha. The statues were designed with both tyrants having a proud, smirking facial expression.

Harmona’s eyes tremble as she gasps, “What is this…?”

“This universe’s Zeth is having the mortals bow at his statue? That’s a tyrannical move if I’ve ever seen one,” Zaydra says.

Harmona stumbles forward until she falls to her knees, her whole body shaking. “Why…? Why would he do this to these people…?”

She looks up and screams toward the sky. “ZETH!!!!!!!!”

Harmona’s group has entered a city in the Tyrant Alternate Universe! The sight of humans being forced to bow at a statue of her alternate universe son breaks her composure!
