A class trip to another world

“Class we are going to take a short break so if you need to pee it is now” Our homeroom teacher Akira raised his arms to get everybody’s attention and pointed towards a small gas station on the side of the road. 

“Are we allowed to go and buy sweets from the gas station?” Aoi turned her face towards the teacher, who nodded in response. Aoi is our class president. Her friends Rin and Yui took their bags and stood up. The three of them walked out and towards the shop.

“Do you want something?” Shigeo shoved is elbow in my side to get my attention. “Hey that hurt! But yes. Shinji do you want anything?” I jokingly hit him on the back of the head and turned towards Shinji who took out his earbud and looked at us, shook his head and put back his earbud. Shigeo and I made eye contact and got up from our seats and started to walk towards the door. We sat in the far back of the bus and just in front of us sat Kenji, Riku, Ren and Kiyoshi. They were the four athletic kids in class. They were watching a football game and eating chips. 

We got stopped at the door by Kaiya and Jun. Jun asked if she could talk to Shigeo alone, he hesitated, but I sent him away with her. I knew that he have liked her for a while now, so I thought either she is going to ask him now or he is going to tell her. Kaiya and I decided to go and buy candy together meanwhile. 

Kaiya and I went in to the store together. She suddenly stopped and looked me straight in the eyes. Her dark green eyes captured me. To be honest, I liked her, she was nice and really cute. “Does Shigeo like Jun?” She asked. “Yea, and he has for a while.” I answered. She stood there quietly for a while, so I continued the conversation. “Is Jun going to ask Shigeo out?” Kaiya nodded in response. “Let’s buy them a happy couple candy present” I proposed and could feel my cheeks to turn red as it felt like I was talking about a marriage present. Kaiya looked at me and giggled. We started to look around for a little present to Jun and Shigeo. When they suddenly came walking. We hide the candy bar that we were planing on giving to them, and they told us that they were now a couple. We congratulated them and gave them the candy bar. When we were done picking out our own candy, we started to head towards the cash register where an old lady worked. She had heard about Jun and Shigeo and congratulated them. They became bright red in the face and quietly whispered thanks.

Behind us in the line were Makoto and Takumi. "Ooh, Shigeo and Jun are dating." Makoto loudly "whispered" to Takumi. Takumi started to giggle, and they continued to giggle and "whisper" to each other until we left. "They are just jealous." I leaned in between Jun and Shigeo who stood next to each other in front of me and Kaiya. Osmau came around the corner of the shelf and after quickly catching up on what Makoto and Takumi were talking about, he joined their giggle party.

When Kaiya and I stepped up to the counter I saw in my peripheral vision,  Shinoa and Nagisa who were looking at the vending machine. I had almost never talked to them. They had always been the quiet type and kept to themselves. Reo and her gang of four others Sora, Eiko, Daichi and Junpei were looking at the energy drinks and I saw Junpei point at Shinoa and Nagisa. He probably made a comment because the others started to giggle. Shinoa and Nagisa noticed and quickly stood up and left with the stuff from the vending machine.

“Everybody, time to go again” Akira stepped in to the store which made everybody hurry to the register, luckily we were just done. Kaiya and Jun came and sat with us at the back of the bus. Shinji had seen the confession from the window and teased Shigeo and Jun about it but stopped when they told him that he was just jealous. Kaiya and I laughed at them as they continued to tease each other. I started to read my book about a fantasy world. And after a while I was quickly engulfed in the book.

After driving for another hour, it was starting to approach evening. We were supposed to arrive before nightfall but the road had been blocked by a fallen tree. The only other way was a mountain pass that was a whole two hours longer. When the teacher notified the class about this there were a lot of complaining and moaning. Usagi started to say that she would soon ask her butler to come pick her up. Usagi had always been a spoiled brat. We went to the same middle school. She didn’t get a private tutor nor special treatment when it came to which school, so at the school she always found reasons for others to adore her. But after the teacher told her that it would take longer for her butler to arrive she went back to her seat and complained to her friends Maria and Mi who were also from rich family’s.

I had fallen asleep, so I didn’t hear about the change in plans nor about Usagi’s complaining. When I later woke up, Shigeo told me about it. I looked out the window and we were currently driving along a thin dirt road next to a very steep edge. When I looked forward again I saw that a lot of people were either asleep, watching something on their phone or playing games. Suddenly a felt a sharp turn and the bus started to lean towards the cliff. I looked forward and saw that a log had rolled down the hill and hit the bus. Just as the bus started to fall back on to the road, another log hit us and we started to rumple down the cliff. I barely saw anything, I heard a lot of screaming, but passed out shortly after. The last thing I heard was Shinji screaming my name “YUKI!, YUki!, Yuki, yuki” then everything fell silent.

When I opened my eyes again, I couldn’t see because everything was so bright. At first, I could barely make out the shape of  the roof. But when my eyes started to get used to the bright light, I looked around me. I was surrounded by big empty thrones. There were seven massive thrones surrounding me at equal separation and in between them where smaller thrones, everything was covered in white marble and gold. I spun around trying to find out where I was, when suddenly all the chairs started to fill with smoke. The smoke was thick and dark. When I looked closely at the smoke I could see the shape of a person in it. Suddenly a loud voice echoed from behind me and I turned around.
