Chapter 0:

Everything Happens for a Reason

The Betrayed Classmate Seeks Vengeance

I watched as the ocean sped by, the hot sun glaring down on our bus. The chatter of the other students filled the bus. Right now my class is on a school trip to Tokyo. This trip is something that we have been looking forward to all year

My best friend, Akira, was seated in the row across from me. We both had the entire back row to ourselves due to being unpopular, not that we minded.

"Dude, have you played the latest update to Fantasy Quest?"

Akira is a very avid video game & anime fan, with chunibyo tendencies. He was tall and skinny, with short black hair and a dyed red streak through it.

"I haven't gotten around to it; I was planning on playing it when we got back."

He looked at me with a glare that told me I should probably keep that promise when we got home. I just brushed him off and turned to look out the window again, but what I saw was not what I expected.

What should have been a beautiful coastline was replaced with a large stone chamber. The chamber was filled with a brilliant blue light. Standing in the corners of the chamber were eight men in pale white robes.

By this point, everyone else had noticed. The teacher raised her voice, trying to calm the situation.

"Okay, everyone, stay calm. I'm sure that there's nothing to worry about."

Our teacher, Mrs. Kei, was a short woman, who you could easily confuse for being a student, and because of that, everyone called her Mrs. Golf, after the Short pencils you get in the library. no one listened to her until she gets serious, then everyone listens.

She said her previous statement with a nervous look in her eyes, giving away that not even she believed what she was saying.

"Hello, is anyone alive in there?"

A voice rang from outside the bus. All of us peeked out the window and saw a girl. She was short and with long blonde hair. She was dressed head to toe in black. She almost reminded me of peanut butter & chocolate candy.

The girl saw us looking out the window and waved before snapping her fingers. The door opened by itself, and she stepped inside. She gracefully ascended the stairs, almost seeming like she was floating, before stopping at the front and bowing.

"Greetings Heroes, I am Alice. I am the princess of the Kanao Emp-."

Alice was quickly cut off with an anger-filled shout by someone else.

"What do you want with us!"

The speaker stood up, revealing that it was the long black-haired girl Shizu. Shizu was known for being the top of the class and having a feisty attitude. All the interactions we have had were positive. It seems like as long as you don't get on her bad side you'll be fine.

Alice held a hand up to her mouth, surprised. It looked like she was trying to be cute on purpose as well.
"Oh my, how rude."

In response to her cutesy act, a few of the boys stood up to defend Alice.

"Yeah, Shizu, you should apologize that was rude!"

"Shizu, that was mean!"

"Wow, Shizu, I knew you had a temper, I didn't think you would act like that though..."

I could already tell that I wasn't going to like Alice, the way she already had most of the guys wrapped around her fingers irked me.

"Now now, boys. I'm sure she didn't mean any harm by what she said."

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Shizu give up her battle and sitting back down.

"Now, I'm sure you have a lot of questions, and if you will come with me, I will answer all of them."

She gestured with her hands to follow her, and then gracefully descended the stairs of the bus, just like how she came in.

There was a moment of silence. Then Mrs. Kei spoke up.

"W-well we don't have anything better to do."

She stands up and went to the front of the bus and entered the stone chamber. I watch as she slowly exits my view through the window.
