Chapter 7:
Angel of the Strait
The day that Aaron experienced with Beatrice and Nero was one that he can never forget in the future days to come. We return to the day of the incident. Aaron didn’t leave the house after Nero and Marcus took Beatrice away, instead he stayed there staring at a wall thinking. The sun began to set and it didn’t seem like anyone would even come to that house as one might fear. Beatrice must truly not have any family.
Soon a sudden knock on the door is heard. Aaron bolts his head towards the front door, curious as to who would be knocking this evening. Aaron then gets off the chair and brushes himself off. He makes his way towards the front door and then notices a picture on the kitchen counter. Distracted from the door, he heads for the picture instead, staring into it intensely. To his horror, there is a man in the picture and that man being, “Lavernius.” Aaron says to himself in shock.
Another knock is heard at the door and Aaron decides to finally open it. Upon opening the door, the figure who emerges is a friend, “I knew I would find you here.” Travis says in a friendly tone.
“How the hell did you find me?” Aaron questions as Travis slowly moves into the house and looks around.
“You could call it a guess if you really want. However, I heard about Lavernius, and heard it from Nero when I was at the Aurelius cafe.” Travis explains as he continues to survey the house he’s in.
“So, you assumed that I would be here because it’s Lavernius’ house.” Aaron tries to piece Travis’ words together.
“Yeah pretty much. I also came here for another reason, there’s a file cabinet that would be of great interest.” Travis still remains without making eye contact with Aaron.
“You’re acting strange right now.” Aaron states.
“You already know that as humans, we pull off different personalities for different people. I just haven’t switched to the one I usually show you yet.” Travis says almost depressingly and has Aaron scratching his head, “Come on, let’s go get those documents.”
