Chapter 5:
The Wind Showed You to Me
After that situation Kazuya was feeling like a new energy and motivation entered him, as he finally had an anchor point. Waiting was tiring and every time he tried to enter the shop to see if the girl happened to be there, the deadly gaze of an old lady made him stop. But she couldn't be present all the time, and that thought let the idol maintain patience, no matter how hard it was. His efforts finally paid off, when another cashier was performing his duties. Of course the risk had to be considered, that this student was asked not to give any information, but Kazuya kept finger crossed it was not this situation. He deserved a bit of luck and got a decent answer before the idol's victim realised his mistake.
“But wait? I think I know you?”
“I am pretty sure you don’t,” Kazuya tried to persuade him.
But then both of them looked at the can, where Kenny was smiling brightly. The cashier pointed at the drink then at the man standing in front of him and back a few times. Kazuya realised that the right moment to run away had just come.
“I often hear that I am really similar to him. Thanks, bye.”
At first Kazuya wanted to follow the excitement and go to the cafe where the girl was working, but realized soon enough it’s pointless, because it was late evening already. Instead he went back home but couldn’t hide the good mood he was in after having a bunch of accurate information. The apartment was quiet, but Kazuya found Sho cooking in the kitchen, listening to something on headphones. He sat down and waited until the leader could give him a bit of his time.
“Stop scaring me!” he almost jumped too immersed in the podcast, when he saw Kazuya sitting quietly, watching him and smiling goofily.
“It’s not like I am doing it on purpose.”
“Are you sure about that?” Sho put the bowl on the table and before sitting, he asked Kazuya if he wanted to have some.
“I am good. Actually I am too excited to eat.” In fact he was eager to share good news and didn't know how nice it is to have someone to do it with.
“Oh, any progress?” Kazuya didn’t even notice how worried Sho sounded already and that he put away the chopsticks while hearing an answer. “I was thinking about your situation and I have one question I forgot to ask you earlier?”
“What it is?”
“Why do you even want to meet her?” The leader asked, watching like the younger one stopped looking at his phone and was actually thinking about it. “I understand she made a strong impression on you, but please tell me you don't think about dating.”
“I… I don't know.”
Kazuya hung his head, there was no good answer for that question, how could he explain the mysterious desire making him to look for her or the fact he couldn't stop thinking about their short meeting. Like he knew, it's a must to find her but even he didn't know the reason behind that.
Rokuro suddenly showed up next to the table, their group ninja, as they called him. Always coming out of nowhere with the right timing, aware of what's going on and with the latest news and rumours close at hand. He was watching Kazuya closely, almost making him so uncomfortable that he was ready to tell the whole truth. And it wasn't the first time he thought that Rokuro might have some mysterious power of looking into someone’s soul.
“Did I hear right? Is dating the topic?” Sho focused on eating, leaving the decision of telling the truth to Kazuya, as the case concerned him. “Who is not fond of his own life?”
“What do you mean?” asked surprised Sho, they had a dating ban, but not with such serious consequences.
“Don’t you know the story of Michael?” Rokuro was getting into the mood, ready to tell the scary story of their company, when a ball made of a sheet of paper hit him lightly in the head.
“Stop gossiping with old ladies and saying that nonsense.” Nao just came out of his room after taking a short nap, annoyed by Rokuro’s repetitiveness. “Boss is an asshole, but not a murderer.”
“I have never said he did it with his own hands!” The biggest gossiper of the group tried to defend himself, while Sho and Kazuya looked at each other in disbelief, how the situation got to this point.
“You are suggesting it!”
When these two disagreed there was always chaos and noise feeling the space, the rest used to it, but sometimes it was disturbing, considering it could start in a second, last for hours, and be forgotten in minutes. Rokuro and Nao were loud, however there was someone louder, when he got angry. That person’s name was Tadao, who just got out of his room with a phone in his hand.
“Will you shut up? I can’t even have a call comfortably, because of your screaming!” His burst made everyone silent in a second. Everyone was afraid to say anything or move an inch, looking at each other waiting for anyone to break this weird atmosphere and someone did it accidentally.
“Honey, please calm down.” A female voice issued from Tadao’s phone, made everyone gasp, even the owner who realized he put in on speaker unwittingly.
“Okay my love. I’m sorry” His voice was soft right away as he spoke to his beloved one. “We will talk later after I talk to these idiots.”
Nao let him sit on the chair and when he finally did, in synchronization with Rokuro they started to pat him excitedly and happily with both hands in the back. They all were happy because of his friend's happiness, but Sho couldn’t take the worry from his shoulders.
“So who was that, your girlfriend? How did you manage to date? How long are you together?” Rokuro bombarded Tadao with questions and stopped after an angry look.
“It's my girlfriend Sakura, we have dated long before I came to the company. She was the one who convinced me to try and wait patiently until the contract ends.” He sighed heavily. “We actually never talk about it, but you know that it must be secret. I won't say any more.”
“Will we meet here one day? I want to meet the girl who can make you so soft in a second.”
“One more word.” Tadao raised his fist as pretending to be ready to hit. “Better say about yourself.”
“I don't have anything to hide.” Rokuro shrugged his shoulders. “My classmate who also was my neighbor confessed to me before my leave, but I don't think it was honest. My parents had to ask her to do it, hoping it would stop me, as they didn't support my dream. Nao?”
“You know the answer. My only love is my passion. I bet our dear leader has something better to say.” He smiled provocatively, but Sho disappointed him.
“Not interested right now, not sure about the future. Also how could I have time for love if I have you four around making trouble all the time.”
“If we are being honest about our dating, everyone needs to share. And we have one person left,” Rokuro suggested.
Everyone’s eyes were focused on Kazuya who was just smiling uncertainly.
“I will know myself tomorrow.”
