Chapter 32:
Yui
“Look at my face!” the kindergarten teacher raged at one of the kids.
“I can’t!” the child cried, his tears and eyes matched the same deep blue color.
“You are being rude to your teacher!” she catched the kid in his hair.
“I can’t look at you! I can’t look at anyone! Everyone are too perfect!” the boy kept crying nonstop.
“Stop making excuses” the teacher slammed the kid’s face in the floor and went away complaining to herself “childs, punch each other and then acting rude to adults, no one ever educates them.”
“Haha” another kid came to the blue eyed boy “adults are so dumb! I can punch you as much as I want and everyone will blame you because of your special eyes! poor little Yui… haha”
“Why did you do it?” Yui kept crying “you know I'm weak, you know I can’t protect myself.”
“I did it because it was fun” the kid kept laughing.
“Does thinking of being stronger than others feel good?” Yui wiped his tears “you are not better than anyone, everyone are just the same except me, I’m behind everyone else.”
“Did you say I’m not better than anyone else?” the child was furious “you just got yourself another kick.”
The boy kicked Yui in the balls and went away just like the kindergarten teacher did.
“Ouchi” Yui folded from pain, the punches from before, the kindergarten teacher, the kick, everything hurted so much.
“Are you ok?” a boy with short brown hair checked on Yui “this kick looked powerful.”
“It hurts very badly” Yui kept folding on the floor in pain.
The brown haired boy held Yui’s hand “if you keep on crying and folding like this people will think you are weak and will hurt you just because it’s easy.”
Yui reached his hand to the other kid’s hand, with a lot of help he stood up slowly.
“I’m Nakata” the brown haired boy smiled.
“I’m Yui” Yui said back to him.
“Are you shy? you don’t look at anyone in the face” Nakata helped Yui to stay in equilibrium.
“I’m not very shy, I just don’t like looking at peoples faces” Yui tried standing on his own.
“It can give you problems in the future you know~” Nakata said, he gently left Yui so he would stand on his own.
“I know already but it’s fine, one day I will be able to look at people’s faces, for sure” Yui stopped crying but his nose was still red.
“Until that day I will make sure no one will hurt you” Nakata smiled.
“Thank you a lot” Yui gave himself permission to smile too. So they spent the entire day together.
“How was your day?” Yui’s mother asked Yui when she took him from the kindergarten.
“It was amazing! I met a really nice boy!” Yui said happily.
“So maybe you can invite him to our house someday” Yui’s mother was really happy her son finally got a friend.
“Can we? it will be amazing! you must meet him” Yui shined, he really enjoyed his time with Nakata.
“How is he called?” asked Yui’s mother “everyone in the kindergarten are living close by, maybe I know him.”
“His name is Nakata Torikawa” Yui kept shining in the back seat.
“I think I know him, I think he is the son of someone in my workplace” she said after thinking a little.
The time passed by and Yui turned 17. He sat on a wooden chair in the middle of his house, he was staring at the floor, not doing anything, just sitting and waiting for something to happen, anything.
Big aggressive knocks could be heard on the door.
“I will open it!” Hibana ran over to the door.
In front of the door five teens waited when she opened it.
“Um… are you here to sell something?” Hibana asked nervously.
“We are here to see Takashima” Aku said with a serious face.
“We are the Takashima family, which one do you want to meet?” Hibana smiled, hiding the fact she was still nervous.
“Yui” said Nakata.
“That voice….” Hibana tried to remember where she heard it before “Nakata! what happened to you? you look so different from the way you looked three years ago!”
“It’s a long story, just let us in” Nakata tried to sound as serious as he could.
“If you are Yui’s friends you can come in” Hibana said and stepped aside so the others could come in.
“What are you doing here?” Yui raised his head, he didn’t look happy at all.
“We didn’t know why you returned to your parent’s home so we wanted to check” Kimori approached Yui.
“I came to a conclusion” Yui said quietly “I looked at us yesterday, so happy and united, if I keep on being like that I will never reach perfection, I will never be able to look at peoples in their face.”
“Bullshit” Aku was angry, she approached Yui in louds steps “there is no such thing as perfection, I lost to Eda the other day, even me, THE ONE BLESSED BY GODS TO BE PERFECT is not perfect.”
“You are blessed by gods” Yui cuddled in himself, now he was the shape of a ball “I’m cursed by gods, miserable, forever.”
“Gods?” Hibana tilted her head.
“Remember what you promised me when we just met?” Nakata joined Aku.
“I will be able to look in people’s faces one day” Yui was still in a ball shape, his face was not visible “in order to achieve that I need to achieve perfection and be like you.”
“The opposite” Nakata said really loud “if you want to look at other people’s face you need to accept the fact, PERFECTION DOESN’T EXIST!”
“You are better than us in so many things” Minato joined “if perfection exists we are the imperfect ones!”
“Perfection? is that the reason Yui doesn't look at people's faces?” Hibana asked but no one answered her.
“I thought you stopped running around to achieve perfection” Kimori said “I thought you just wanted us as friends now!”
“I failed” Aku said “you fell already don’t you?”
All this talking gave Yui a headache.
“I decided” Yui’s face was not visible but his voice shaked, it was easy to hear the fact he was crying “if perfection doesn’t exist I will invent it, in the end, no one will be able to hurt me.”
