Chapter 8:

The DEAD Want A Deal

The Land of Maidens and Corpses (Original)

She had called me "Kazuya-ousama". Since when was I royalty?

No, she must've expected someone else. Yeah, that's definitely the one. Anyways, that wasn't why I was here (Despite trying to escape earlier, and not coming here willingly). I was looking for the last survivor inside the building.

Reluctantly, I opened the door to the classroom and stepped inside. The tables had been stacked in the middle of the room, and on them, she sat. Like a ruler on her throne. The "Queen" of the DEAD. All along the ceiling, the mass of human flesh and muscle had spread all the way into the middle of the room. From the giant mass collected in the middle hung what looked to be a nervous system, connecting to the "queen" like a series of tubes. She must've been the one controlling the flesh mass.

"I see you've finally arrived, your highness. . ." She calmly spoke. Obviously this situation wasn't shocking for her at all. I couldn't exactly see her facial expression, as her long bangs hung down across her face. Barely, I could make out the sadistic smirk on her face.

"What do you mean "your highness"? I'm not royalty. . ."

She began laughing. "So, you don't know at all, do you?"

"Know what? What's going on? What's with the horde of flesh hungry undead outside and the large, muscular beast outside?"

"I'm not here to answer your questions. . . However, there is one I'm willing to answer" Her tone quickly went sour.

"And what's that?"

"You want to know what those "undead" outside are, right? Well. . . They're called Liches"

"Liches, huh? Are they like zombies, or something? Risen from the grave again--?"

"No" She interrupted. "They aren't really alive. And they're not from your world. . . Well, most of them, anyways"

"Wait. . . What do you mean they aren't from "my world"? What other world could there be?"

Also, what did she mean "most of them". Is she telling me that they also came from this world. So, if they aren't dead, and are basically walking corpses, but some of them didn't come from anywhere else. The ones that came from this world, what are they?

"I said I wasn't answering any other question you had!" She shouted. "I am aware, that you are indeed higher ranked than me, but I still expect you to follow that simple rule. . ."

"Then, if I'm not allowed to ask questions, then why am I here?"

"You're here to make a deal with me!" She proudly stated. She obviously took very much pride in being able to speak and boss me around. I don't know why, but that seemed a bit. . . Odd?

"Deal. What kind of deal?" She first kidnaps me and refuses to answer my other questions. Now she expects to make a deal with me? What is she thinking? "First of all, why do I need to make a deal with you? Why do you even want me to?"

"I don't want you to, and I honestly couldn't care less. . . However, she wants me to. I don't disobey her, and she leaves me alone, for the most part."

Who was she now talking about? Some other crazy sadistic kidnapper who knew of some secret truth behind the undead-- I mean liches. "Who are you talking about?"

"That's none of your concern for now. Anyways, let me tell you about the deal before you interrupt me again" Fine. . . "The deal is that you, Kazuya, will join forces with my master. In exchange, your safety from the master will be ensured. Shouldn't be too hard for a king to understand, right?"

There you go again. . . Calling me "king". Why do you assume I have anything to do with royalty. You're incorrect, but still, I'm flattered that you overestimate me. Although she wasn't making very much sense, I knew that asking into it would give me the same answer as before. "I'm not here to answer your questions". I decided it would be best to play it cool for now. . .

"Is that it? Your stupid master is offering me a partnership, or else she'll kill me? Who is she even, and why doesn't she ask me herself?" I SAID PLAY IT COOL! What's wrong with you?

"The later details of the agreement can be discussed when your undead siblings have been terminated. Also, concerning the matter of why, her great divinity, hasn't shown herself is quite simple. However, like I told you earlier, I'm not here to answer your questions. Accept the deal and I'll consider answering the rest of your questions."

Hm. . . This is tricky. I don't know who this "queen" is and who her master is, but if I don't agree that hulking beast would bulldoze me probably. Bulldoze? How about I call him Dozer, then? Heh, I like the sound of that name--

Hey, focus!

Oh sorry! Anyways, the deal isn't exactly fair. It seems like she's trying to use me. But why me? Why am I special to her? Shouldn't she just have killed me there and then, and this would be over with? Still. . . I needed to know what exactly she wanted me to do.

"When-- No. If, I agree to the deal, what exactly am I supposed to do?"

"Naturally, I'll expect you to go terminate those pests currently residing in the Gymnasium"

"You want me to kill them? As far as I know, they were the only survivors from this school, and you're just going to kill them? What have they even done?"

"Naturally, they'll die by themselves anyways, when they get caught. By then they'll just be dead, lifeless bodies. Not usable in any way. Besides, all those liches on the second floor of this building. They're going to be your army. . ."
