Chapter 872:

The game between Ursha and Okisato

En Passant Grandmaster

In her hotel room, Svetlana tossed and turned as memories of Ursha's match with Okisato flooded into her head.

...

Things started out simple with d4 and d5, but then came e4, The Blackmar Gambit.

"I love chaos," Ursha grinned as Okisato captured the pawn at e4 with his d-pawn.

Knight c3 and Knight f6 suggested things would be normal, but then came bishop g5 from Ursha.

"A von Popiel... what a coincidence. Peter just practiced this line on me last night," Okisato thought as he moved his bishop to f5.

The ever chaotic Ursha continued her romp by capturing the knight at f6 with her bishop. Given the choice, Okisato opted to take said bishop with his e-pawn instead of his g-pawn, but what certainly left him surprised was Ursha deciding to capture the pawn at e4 with her knight.

"Fine then," Okisato shrugged as he captured the knight at e4 with his bishop.

"That was part of the plan. Now your fucking bishop gets a pin steak driven threw it," Ursha sneered as she moved her queen to e2.

Okisato responded by capturing the pawn at d4 with his queen.

"Um, still on," Ursha snarled as she moved her pawn to c3.

Okisato rolled his eyes and slid his queen to e5.

"Fine! I'll take your queen then!" Ursha fumed as she moved her pawn to f3.

"And what will that do?" Okisato asked as he moved his bishop to f5.

"This! CHAOS!" Ursha shouted as she captured the queen at e5 with her queen.

"Sure, play like that and see where it gets you," Okisato thought as he captured the queen at f5 with his f-pawn.

Ursha didn't let the queen trade stop her warpath though as she moved her bishop to c4. Okisato moved his knight to c6, as Ursha also decided to move her knight, and placed it on e2.

Then came a defining moment of the game as after Okisato moved his knight to a5, Ursha castled queen's side.

"I guess it's chaos for thee, not for me," Okisato shrugged as he captured the bishop at c4 with his knight.

"I hate bishops anyway. Should be renamed," Ursha scoffed as she moved her knight to g3.

"And if I mate you with a bishop?" Okisato asked as he moved his bishop to e6.

Ursha's eye twitched. "I ain't gonna let you," she glared as she moved her h-rook to e1.

"Try then," Okisato taunted as he moved his pawn to a5.

"I will!" Ursha retorted as she slammed her king down on c2.

"You've forsaken winning then?" Okisato inquired as he moved his pawn to a4.

"Nope, I'm winning with the power of chaos," Ursha declared as she moved her pawn to a3.

"By compromising your position?" Okisato countered as he moved his bishop to e7.

"It's called winning. Wait until you see how stupid you look when I win!" Ursha cackled as she moved her king to b1.

"And if it's you who loses?" Okisato asked as he castled king's side.

"I'm not," Ursha defiantly retorted as she slid her king to a2.

"Fine, I'll humor you, slightly," Okisato snarled as he moved his king to h8.

"And that's how I win!" Ursha boasted as she moved her knight to e4.

"How about now?" Okisato growled as he moved his pawn to f5.

"Still winning," Ursha snarled as she slammed her knight down on d2.

"Better move the rook, then," Okisato taunted as he moved his bishop to h4.

"Oi, what's with the grinning? It's disturbing," Ursha glared as she moved her rook to f1.

"It means I've seen a path to victory, and your humiliation," Okisato grinned as he moved his pawn to e4.

A vein burst on Ursha's forehead. "As if!" she scoffed as she moved her rook to a1.

"That makes it easier," Okisato snickered as he moved his rook to a5.

"No it doesn't," Ursha retorted as she moved her knight to b1.

"Oh yes it does. Mate in 3," Okisato declared as he moved his rook to b5.

"Ngh, no... I'll AHA! IT'S MATE IN 1, YOU LOSE!" Ursha cackled as she moved her pawn to b4.

"This isn't billiards. You don't automatically lose if you call out mate in X and it's longer or shorter than that. It honestly gives your opponent an unfair chance if there isn't a forced sequence of moves. And that's why it's not a rule. But you know what is a rule? EN PASSANT!" Okisato maniacally laughed as he performed en passant and captured the pawn at b4 with his a-pawn. "And that's checkmate too, dumbass."

Ursha's jaw hung down in shock. Okisato had won with an en passant checkmate. "Ha... Hahaha... I fucked it, huh... Lana... It's been fun."

BOOM!

Svetlana let out a scream as Ursha exploded. The board then vanished as Okisato began going on his way.

"DON'T MOVE!" Svetlana roared as she pulled out her DESPER.

However, she was unable to activate it, so Okisato kept walking.

"... DON'T RUN AWAY FROM ME!" Svetlana shouted as she pulled out her sledgehammer and charged for Okisato.

Okisato leapt to the side and sighed as he delivered a karate chop to Svetlana, knocking her out instantly.

...

Back in the present, Svetlana groaned as the morning sun rose. "Another day... I guess I'll head out."
