Chapter 22:

Unwanted pictures

She Wolf will not find her mate; I curse the Spring that came too quickly. I won't fall in love!

I was called away from another psychology appointment, to make sure I was coping with what had happened to me. Still I didn’t have a negative reaction to it so I spent most of my appointment discussing with the psychologist what was the reason behind Mik betraying the Hirasawa mansion that had sheltered him for over 15 years.

At the end of the session still the best explanation we could come up with was spite.

I found Caelestis afterwards, “Any news from home?”

“Not particularly,” he said glumly.

“How are your siblings?”

“Same as usual. Although, it’s hard for me to get information from my parents at the moment, so I’m very in the dark.”

“I’m sure they’re ok. They’re purebloods after all.”

“Have you heard anything?” He asked hopefully.

“No but we can check with the patrols,” I offered.

“Who?” He asked. Surely they had patrols at the Hirasawa mansion. Though maybe Caelestis was very far removed from that side of things.

“The pack patrols their territory to make sure there are no myth hunters or really to see what is going on.”

“Have they got anything interesting to say?”

“Let’s find out,” I led him down the stairs and into one of the living rooms.

I scanned the room for the latest patrol members. The Luna always made me check over the patrol sheets every morning so that I knew. I left Caelestis to himself and walked over.

They stood to attention as they saw me approach, “Varina Elch.”

I nodded at them, “Any news about the Hirasawa mansion?”

“None from the mansion itself but a group of myths were reported running through the forest, of note a werecat and a pureblood vampire amongst them,” he informed me.

I thanked him for the information then walked back to Caelestis and relayed it to him.

“Might be my father,” his eyes lit up a little.

“Probably,” I agreed.

“Well my mother is with the others.”

“So she’s safe I hope that eases your mind,” I smiled up at him.

“Being so remote from everyone is a good and bad thing.”

“You’re safe, that's the most important thing.”

“Is it though?”

“Oh yes it is. I didn’t bring you here for nothing,” I grabbed his hand and led him back up the stairs and to the hallway so we weren’t being watched by all the werewolves. There was just something off with him. He seemed like he was in a bad mood or just incredibly worried about something.

“Are you ok?” I asked.

“I’m fine,” he dismissed me.

“You don’t seem it, come on be honest,” I egged him on.

“I am being honest. No need to worry,” oh but I did, I hugged him, he sighed, “no need to be so sensitive either.”

“I’m not trying to comfort you,” I said, half lying. I did somewhat feel that he needed comforting and even if he didn’t admit that to himself I would try to make him feel better at least. I rubbed myself against him like a wolf would for scent marking.

“Oh really, somehow I doubt that,” He smiled a little and I kissed his neck, he scoffed, “I wonder what your version of comforting is.”

“I said I wasn’t,” I kept kissing his neck, it tasted of pine.

“If you were to comfort me what would you do?” he asked, looking down at me.

“I would give you a hug and tell you it’s ok…. and maybe …. exploit you a little,” My eyes darted around.

“How thoughtful of you,” he chuckled.

“You would enjoy it,” I licked his neck, pine, roses… I wanted more as always.

“Why do you do this to yourself?” He screwed up his nose.

“Do what?” I looked up at him.

“T H I S,” he looked down at me.

I was bewildered by his answer, “I’m just trying to have fun.”

“Hmm. Nevermind,” he calmed down.

Perhaps he just didn’t like getting his neck licked. I backed off, “What did you think I was doing?”

“Honestly, You’re just confusing,” he said but I think he was the confused one, there was just something going on in the background. I guess I had just pushed him a little too far. I felt bad all of a sudden.

“How so? I think I’m pretty straight forward,” I asked.

“Well, you have twisted motives,” he said in a serious tone but I didn’t understand why he thought that. My only assumption was past trauma or not being able to trust.

“Most of them are getting to you. My motive behind getting you. Well you’re hot and I like you. You’re too much fun, we connect pretty well too.”

He shook his head, “I’m just the one guy you can’t have, isn’t that right?”

“Not exactly, you’re the cutest guy I can’t have,” I corrected him.

He screwed up his face in disgust, “Don’t give me that.”

“Why? It’s true.”

He looked completely appalled, “Cute?”

“Ok I’m sorry sexy, hot, handsome,” I smiled up at him, “impossible.”

He looked relieved and his face returned to a more relaxed state, maybe I was helping him after all, “That last one there is the closest.”

I laughed, “Yeah you will take so long the only way I’ll be able to get you is to kidnap you and force you to spend every day with me.”

“Haven’t you just done that?”

“Nah, you can leave whenever you want,” I smirked.

“I’ll have myth hunters coming after me.”

“So maybe you are trapped,” I hugged him again, “Is there a problem?”

“Yes, I’m trapped,” he smiled just the tiniest bit.

“What can I do to help you?” I asked.

“Stop, maybe. Just an idea,” he said matter of factly.

“Hmmm, ok,” I let go of him and moved away.

I was really confused, at first I thought I was actually helping him but now it seemed like he wanted nothing to do with me. Then he smiled, “You’re just a little too obvious. There’s no fun with someone so obvious about what they’re after.”

“Well you seem to think I have a hidden motive, so am I really so obvious?” I asked him and I felt my butt vibrate. I pulled out my phone and there were a few emails from the Luna. I walked back into my room and sat at the desk. I turned on the computer and started to read.

Caelestis stood in the doorframe, “Me following you gives you what you want.”

I looked back at him, “What do I want?”

“I’m going to deliberately make things difficult for you, because I like seeing people struggle,” he smiled smugly at me.

“Uh huh…” I smiled “so you admitted it then.”

“Oh?” he still retained his air of cockiness despite messing up.

“You like me, you just want me to struggle for your entertainment,” I explained his own actions to him.

“Think what you want.”

“But you told me to stop?” I squinted at him.

“I did.”

“Why?”

“Hmm I’ll let you figure that out,” he walked off.

I was so confused but I had to attend to these emails. I skimmed them. The Luna wanted me to read a few documents. Easy enough. I turned off my computer and picked up my tablet and followed his scent to his room. I stood in the doorway trying to read the dry documents.

Caelestis laughed at something I couldn’t see. I raised an eyebrow at him but he shook his head dismissively. I went back to reading the document. It took me a while but finally I looked up from my tablet.

Caelestis was looking at a phone, I gasped, “You have a phone? And I don’t have your number.” I threw a cushion at him, “How dare you! I want it right now!”

I pulled out my phone and sat beside him. He put his phone away, “Get it from my sister later.”

I grabbed his phone from his pocket, “Nope.”

I turned it on and - “Got a password,” Caelestis said smugly.

I sighed and handed it back to him.

“Gave up?”

“If you’re going to be a bitch about it,” I grumbled

“It’s like I said. I’m not going to make things easy,” his voice was melodic despite the irritating words.

“Well if you don’t send me at least one dick pic how will I know that you’re not gay,” I did my best impression of Lucius.

Caelestis didn’t quite get it, “Because I’ve never been with a man.”

“That’s what Lucius and his brothers’ say, they’re the type of people who think that dick pics are a good idea,” I said from experience… too much experience.

Caelestis’ eyes lit up with mischief, “Ask them for one.”

I screwed up my face, “Ew why?”

“Because that would be funny.”

I was not too thrilled about it but Caelestis was looking so happy and interested in something so who was I to judge. Besides humiliating the Amanes over their shitty behaviour, that I was always up for. I opened up my messenger app and asked for one from Rome. Obviously I wanted nothing to do with Lucius and Haven I didn’t know well enough.

“As if anyone would just hand them out,” Caelestis was trying to comprehend the stupidity.

“Heh well,” I clicked onto the thread with Lucius and strolled up. There were so many unprompted dic pics.

Caelestis' eyes nearly fell out of his head, “Wow he’s eager. What does he usually want in return?”

“Well nudes… But yeah these are pretty much daily,” I kept scrolling through them, notably I hadn’t sent him any nudes. I never fully trusted him enough to do that and it seemed my instincts proved right on that.

“Everyday now,” Caelestis was shocked.

“Yeah look at the time stamps,” I pointed them out.

“Really don’t need these images in my head but ok,” Caelestis looked away disgusted.

“Me neither,” I clicked off the thread.

“Did Rome get back to you?” Caelestis asked viciously.

I smiled to myself and clicked on Rome’s thread, he replied: Since when do you ask?.

“No he’s smart,” I lamented.

“Ah damn. Do you two have a history?” Caelestis asked.

A very pointed question.

“I don’t have feelings for him or anyone Caelestis. I’m going to have a mate,” I said flatly.

“Do you know who he is?”

I was a little confused by that question. “... A rogue wolf?” I answered carefully.

“Well,” he smirked.

“What did you mean by that?” I squinted at him.

Caelestis laughed, “Nothing at all.”

I realised he was asking who my mate was and I glared at him, “The gods are not that cruel…. Surely I won’t have a rogue wolf as my mate.”

Caelestis chuckled then said, “So you have no clue then.”

“Of course I have no clue, none of us do until we do… There is a trigger inside us. Sometimes our mates aren’t even werewolves. Though they usually are and mine probably will… likely to be a big strong werewolf son of some alpha… that kind of thing,” I explained.

“Happen to know any?”

“Of course.”

“And you still don’t know who it will be? I guess there are many people out there,” Caelestis finally understood werewolf mating.

“No it’s up to the fates really,” I sighed.

“That’s unfortunate,” Caelestis said sadly.

“At least you know you’re stuck with that little brat- I mean little wonder,” I smiled too sweetly.

He shrugged, “No relationship stress for me.”

“You sure…” I looked up at him, “She’s worse than me.”

“I’ll manage,” he smiled grimly.

“I’m sure, I think she’ll be more difficult later though…” I paused for a second, “she doesn’t take anything seriously.”

Caelestis nodded agreeing with me.

Suddenly an idea popped into my head and I turned back on my tablet and opened up the email. I started to type out an email to the Luna. I could get protection for the purebloods from the pack. We could take that on I was sure. After all I had sat through all those lessons surely I could use my power for something.

“I do think, for someone of noble birth, she is being too self-indulgent,” He sounded a little pissed off.

“She's around a bunch of horny werewolves, it must be her heaven. She's not known for any form of self control,” I kept typing, my fingers moving very quickly.

“She should display some since she represents the royalty of vampires,” he huffed.

I looked up at him, “Do I come across the same way to you?”

“No, not really.”

I smiled at him, “Thank you”

“You’re welcome I guess.”

I typed a little more finishing up the email and hit send. Caelestis sighed.

“Sorry, I'm done,” I turned it off.

“No, you may continue,” he looked very bored though.

I yawned, “No I'm really done. I was requesting protection of you and your family. Boring forms to fill out though.”

“From who?” he asked, this spiking in his interest.

“The pack. It’s mainly protection from myth hunters but also all who wish to harm you on pack land,” I explained.

“As if they’ll listen,” he said darkly.

“I figure it's worth a shot, I think the Luna will be impressed with me doing things the proper way.”

“Likely.”

I stuck my tongue out at him, “Shut up.”

He just smiled in response.

“Gods you are a mystery sometimes,” I looked him up and down.

“Well you’re the one who puts many words in my mouth,” he retorted.

“Well I've got to do something with it.”

He laughed, “Alright.”

“It refuses to do anything of its own accord, even drink my blood. What kind of vampire are you?” I squinted at him.

He smiled, “Am I an annoyance to you?”

“No you're just a disappointment,” I returned his annoying smile.

“Perfect,” he purred.

I was so confused, “Why do you want to be disappointing?”

“Just difficult,” he said simply.

“I don’t want people to figure me out easily.”

I shook my head and looked over at the time. It was getting late, I would continue the uphill battle tomorrow, “Yeah I should probably go take a shower and sleep, you're welcome to join me.”

He smiled at me, “Generous offer, but I must be getting some sleep also. Sweet dreams Varinia.”

He then walked off back to his room and I had to say I was sad to watch him go.
