Chapter 23:

Fire and Ice

She Wolf will not find her mate; I curse the Spring that came too quickly. I won't fall in love!

I woke up and smiled. A rare occurrence for any person but for the past few days I’d been running on adrenaline, happy adrenaline. I grabbed my breakfast and brought it into my room.

It was a shame I wasn’t spending much time with Ryan or any of the other wolves, but I’m sure they understood. I sat at my desk and logged onto Mythspace. I had a master plan. I looked through my friends on Mythspace and found Tsukiko. I asked her what Caelestis’ phone number was and as I ate my breakfast I got my reply. Beautiful I laughed evilly to myself and thanked her.

For some reason, it was kind of nerve racking to call him, even though he was just in the other room. I took a big gulp of orange juice and typed the number in.

Steeling myself I pressed that green button.

“Good morning drac!” I sang into the phone.

“Argh,” his voice was groggy.

“I got your number,” I gloated.

“How?”

“Magic. You should be super impressed though and come running to me without any clothes begging for me, or was that just my dream,” I giggled.

Caelestis paused for a second, “...Which snake sold me out?”

“I’ve told you. You’ve got to show your snake before I show mine,” I laughed.

He hung up but I continued laughing and scrolled through Mythspace as I waited for him. As I scrolled I got an email from the Luna who approved the protection. I smiled but it quickly fell away as I saw all the documents she had attached to the email to fill out. I got started on them. At least I could impress her by being correct with my paperwork.

It made sense to get as much of the paperwork done before Caelestis joined me. So I could focus on him. Even if it was painful right now.

As I typed away I heard Elvira laughing maniacally down the hall.

“Psycho,” I heard Caelestis say as well.

I shivered and whispered to myself, “I'm doing extra paperwork for that…”

Caelestis walked into my room and stood in the doorway, “What a nightmare.”

I smiled at him, he already looked exhausted and done with the day, “One night with her and you want to slit your throat, I understand there are daggers in the bedside table.”

I winked at him and he sighed deeply. He was so utterly done with his sister. I gave him a look of understanding before walking over and giving him a shoulder massage. His muscles were so tight with stress, I had a feeling that I would often feel like that a lot too.

“You could outright slap her but that might not look so good,” I suggested, trying to lighten his mood.

Caelestis’ frown disappeared a little, “I don’t care how it looks at this stage.”

I kept massaging him, his shoulders were so big for my little hands, luckily I was quite strong, “I pray my mate is decent…”

“You should,” he mumbled, enjoying the massage.

I smiled, “Too late for you I suppose.”

“Nothing I could’ve done different.”

“You could always run away if she gets too annoying and leave Kayin to deal with her,” I whispered into his ear evilly.

“Don’t put ideas in my head,” he said but his tone was much lighter.

I smiled, “Sorry it's tempting though… You look like you need some fresh air.”

“Do I?” he tilted his head to the side.

“Yeah,” I said softly and held his hand gently.

“What are you doing?” A high level of suspicion in his voice.

He was on edge and I was sure being in a natural setting would help him out a little. I led him down the hallway and towards the front door.

“I’m taking you out,” I told him.

“What?” He looked very confused and a little alarmed.

“Outside,” I squeezed his hand and kept walking.

I opened the door and the forest air washed over us. I took a deep breath in before stepping forward and walking into it. The trees loomed over us and blocked out the harsh sunlight of summer. Caelestis was on edge, looking around him for a thread.

“Take a deep breath of fresh air,” I tried to reassure him.

He took a small breath and his eyes darted around looking for something that just wasn’t there.

I nudged him, “Don’t be weird.”

“What do you expect me to do?”

I giggled at him, “Enjoy yourself. It’s perfectly safe out here.”

“Ok...will do,” he looked a little surprised by that.

Walking deeper into the forest it occurred to me that he might never have been in the forest and felt safe. The Hirasawa mansion’s grounds didn’t include any forest so the school grounds must have been the only real experience he would have had. This must have seemed like just open forest to him. He followed me, close behind. I could tell he was trying to relax but it was difficult.

Once we had gotten far enough away from the mansion I turned around and hugged him.

“What are you up to?” he looked down at me, suspicious of how affectionate I was.

I kept hugging him tightly, my warmth enveloping his cool. He just looked down at me suspiciously. He wasn’t trusting this environment. I planted a kiss on his neck. His eyes darted around looking to all the trees.

I giggled, “Don’t worry I’m just playing and trying not to be too annoying. Relax.”

“Another tactic,” finally his body seemed to relax a little.

I let go of him, happy with the result and leant against a tree, “I figure something has got to work.”

“Why are you trying so hard? Why me? Am I some sort of prize?” He interrogated.

I took a deep breath and tried to put all of my honesty in my voice, I looked him directly in the eye, “I like you.”

He looked at me and squinted, “You just want an edge over the other vampires I’ll bet?”

“Why would I want that? Why would I even need that?” I asked, exasperated.

“I’m just putting some questions out there,” he shrugged.

I smiled and shook my head, “You’re infuriating.”

He smiled a little, enjoying his whole interaction. I regretted being honest with him if he was going to be like this.

“I know I’m a narcissist and I see a lot of myself in you so maybe that makes you more attractive to me,” I tried to explain.

He chuckled a little at this, “I won’t deny our similarities.”

“Does that make me more attractive? Or am I just some slut you don’t want to sleep with in fear of being like my partners of the past? Because I’ve never really tried with any of them,” I couldn’t keep the hurt out of my voice. I walked a little further into the forest in an attempt to hide my facial expression.

He followed, “Well the fact that you’ve persisted this long and not moved onto someone easier says a lot. Which is why I’ve put you through that.”

“The wolf is a dedicated hunter I suppose,” I smiled to myself, still not facing him.

“I still can’t figure out if all of this is because I’m a pureblood, but I’m going to have to trust you a little,” he said softly.

“Why can’t you figure me out?” My brow creased.

“I’m used to vampires,” he said simply.

“And controlling them?” I turned back around to face him, “Is that why you don’t want to, because you can’t control me?”

“My only hesitation was that I couldn’t understand your motives, especially as someone not looking to be in a relationship. However I understand it much better now,” he said looking down at me.

“So what does that mean?” my curiosity piqued.

“Again, it’s merely speculation, however just know that I am going to trust you and your motives going forward,” he reassured me.

“You agreed we were friends. So you can trust me and you should trust me,” I smiled.

“Now I know I can,” he smiled.

I prowled over to him, “Hmmm?”

“Yes?” he said lyrically.

I smiled up at him and he looked down at me, looking somewhat pleased this time. Maybe the forest or maybe myself had relaxed him. Either way I was happy.

“I do wonder if there is something you want from me,” I said playfully.

“What do you think I want?” I asked leaning forward, the scent of roses graced my nose, pushing away the forest.

“Someone other than your sister.”

“I can’t even tolerate her right now.”

“No parents or teachers around, makes her crazy.”

“In more ways than one.”

“In truth I don’t know what you want, maybe it’s someone sane,” I said honestly.

“Hey I’ll take even slightly saner,” he smiled.

“You can have a conversation with me, I heard her screaming before, is that her form of communication?” I asked, joking a little.

“I’d much rather talk to you if I’m honest.”

“I don’t squeal or scream…. And I also have something to say,” I smirked, “I shouldn’t insult her to your face, she’s your princess.”

“I’ll give you a free pass right now,” he said very quickly and eagerly.

“All she does is gossip and talk about sex. It’s kinda pathetic, not to mention boring. But she’s 15 so what do we expect?”

He smiled and laughed a little. That sound was always magical to me. I wished I could hear it more often. I beamed at him, “You don’t laugh often enough.”

“That was genuinely funny,” he said.

I hugged him tightly and he actually hugged me back. Wow he wasn’t kidding, he really did trust me. I kissed his neck. The scent and the taste of roses was intoxicating. Warmth started to build inside me and I kissed him again and again. Completely delicious.

I nibbled his neck softly.

He chuckled and the vibrations excited me, “I’m not entirely sure what you’re supposed to be accomplishing but you do you.”

Oh I wasn’t being obvious enough, I bit into his neck, not enough to draw blood but enough for him to feel.

“Are you a vampire now?” He asked.

“Isn’t that what you like?”

“Certainly is what I’m used to.”

“Do you want to try something new,” I asked seductively.

“Sure,” he said.

I was so surprised, I thought I would get some sort of difficult and annoying answer but he just agreed, “What really?”

“I’m bored.”

I was so shocked, “For real?”

He shrugged, “Yeah.”

I could hardly believe my ears. I kissed him on the cheek, waiting for him to take it back or something but he only said, “Ambitious.”

Was the prince finally mine to have. I smiled and blushed, recovering from my shock. He chuckled at me, clearly quite pleased at my reaction. Of course he had managed to toy with me even when agreeing to me.

I stood on my toes to reach up and I kissed him. He kissed back pulling me closer, helping me to stay at his height. Warmth absolutely exploded within me. His taste was even sweeter knowing what was to come. His fangs dug into my lip as he kissed me.

“I love your fangs,” I whispered, my lips brushing his as I spoke.

“I’ve never thought about them,” he mumbled, his eyes locked onto mine, burning with greed.

“They’re so nice to kiss,” I admitted.

“I enjoy your sharp wolf teeth too. I suppose it’s hot,” He whispered into my ear.

I smiled and blushed a little. I didn’t want to but I couldn’t help it. It was so rare getting a compliment from him. Even if it was about my teeth.

“A girl like you blushing?” He mocked.

“You just said I was attractive,” I said defensively.

“You get shy from that?” he chuckled softly.

“Not shy…” I licked his lips, so damn sweet.

“You were blushing. Confident people don’t do that,” as he spoke his lips grazed mine. My heart fluttered.

“Shut up,” I pinned him against a tree.

“Aggressive,” He looked down at me.

“Someone has got to be,” I growled and kissed him again, he returned the kiss.

The warmth inside me had transformed into a burning heat. I needed his icy body to cool it. I bit the collar of his shirt.

“Don’t ruin it,” he whispered into my ear.

I looked up at him, “You better take it off quickly then.”

“Out here?” he gestured with his eyes to the forest that surrounded us.

I really didn’t mind, I had taken us to a place no patrol covered, but still I suggested, “Teleport us if you wish.”

He squeezed me tightly and there was a rush of air and we were suddenly in my room. It was a little disorienting but I had something more important on my mind. I kissed him again and tugged on his shirt.

He slipped it off. His body was just as pale as I thought it would be. He was skinny as I expected a vampire to be but that only made the muscle of his body stand out more. He was so attractive and I needed him. I kissed along his collarbone and he held me tightly. I kept kissing, tender soft kisses along it.

He grabbed my jaw and pulled my face towards me kissing me. I kissed back but it wasn’t enough. Greed built up inside me. My clothes were too constricting all of a sudden. I slipped down my shirt past my shoulder and he pulled it off me. I blushed a little as he looked at my body with my all so elusive female abs. He smiled at me and I pushed him onto the bed. He kissed me and held me close, his nails digging into my skin. I kissed back trying not to moan in pleasure. Our skin was touching and it felt so exhilarating having his icy skin against my burning hot, soon the ice melted away and his body started to warm as we kissed and caressed each other’s bodies. Very quickly our clothes fell away.

Suddenly Caelestis pinned me to the bed, and it was just magical what happened from there.
