Chapter 14 – My Date with a Werewolf

Panic first hits Azulle as she gazes at the pale muscular man of whom she and Ori have been sleeping in the arms. But then the panic turns more to shock at the fact the man is completely nude with the two women aside from some silly fur-like blanket she sees below his lower halves backside. Or she thought it to be a blanket till it twitches and wags as the man wakes. It had been years since Azulle had laid eyes on the naked form of a man… That being only of her own previous form on earth. But now somehow after the fog of the brutal night is fading, she finds herself looking upon a male form in all its glory. And with it, she reacts the only way her heart tells her…. To quickly throw up the remains of whatever she ate the night before.

By no means could Azulle say that this naked man looked horrific. No, she thought to herself that surely some girls, maybe even Ori who laid still sleeping on the opposing side of the man may have found this man attractive. But for Azulle. She was still a man… Wasn’t she.

“Why don’t you just fuck him already, if you are going to stare at him that long, Eito!” Teases the oddly awake slime form of Francois.

“Wha…No, I … I didn’t, did I? No, I am…” Azulle confusedly tries to put her thoughts together.

“Mmm. You sure rode me hard last night servant girl!” The man grumbles as he being too awake causing Azulle’s face to turn deep red.

“No… We … did….” Azulle continues to look panicked and turns to her long-time slime friend and back at the man getting redder and redder with each glance.

“Guess your womanly urges finally kicked in. Maybe you are a slut Eito. I mean first, you get sword guy following you, and now your bumping boots with this hunk of a man.” Francois states slyly.

“Your slime friend always this talkative at night girl?” The man says freeing his arm around the sleeping Ori and reaching to hug his free one around Azulle’s shoulders. But she backs away from his touch and the man looks puzzled. “What is the matter. I thought your brother told me You were mine if I helped you all.”

This made Azulle snap from confusion to rage. Her brother did this to her. Surely her brother Gil was a pervert in his own ways often trying to peep on and stealing her clothes to force her to go around naked through the castle. But now that they were finally outside the castle’s walls, he sold her into prostitution? If such action was true then Azulle was sure to end the journey of the hero before breakfast. “He did what!” She screamed waking all sleeping members of the camp and causing Kawa who was deeply sleeping in a tree to come crashing down on the ground. While awake Eve comes rushing over dropping the small basket of greens and eggs she was gathering.

“What is the matter Azulle?” Eve askes looking puzzled and then embarrassed at the naked form of the man.

“Man, it was a rough night Azu. Can’t you keep it down and let the rest of us sleep in.” Grumbles Gil from in his tent.

“What is the matter, my lovely maid.” Asks Cabbage who upon seeing the man beings to look stern and wobbly gets on his feet reaching for his sword. “Who is this man. Is he attacking you!”

“Attacking her? No. The fancy guy said I could have her.” The naked man proclaimed to Azulle backing away and Cabbage moving closer as he pulls his sword from the sheath.

“To take the innocence of such young beauties while they sleep, it's unforgivable!” Cabbage slashes at the man so strongly that a cut forms in the ground where the man was standing, but the man’s movements were so quick Cabbage couldn’t help but feel the man’s speed to match if not rival that of Azulle. Still, Cabbage tries again and yet again the man dodges the strike which slices a tree. “Stand still you wretch!”

All the noise causes Gil to finally come out from his tent to see the chaos from inside the camp. He looks about at the mess sighs and turns to Azulle. “Well, you made this mess. So, I leave it to you to clean it up, and get us breakfast.”

Azulle’s mouth dropped in shock at her brother’s orders. “How is this mess my doing!”

“You invited them both. And how is this guy my…”

“You wanted a pet werewolf you have one. He can’t be a wolf all the time.” Azulle thinks over the reaction and the issue before her and realizes that the man is indeed the werewolf Alabaster.

“Alabaster?” Azulle questions to confirm her thoughts and with Alabaster turning his head and smiling at her she knew that her brother was right.

“The werewolf?” Cabbage questions as he prepared to strike again. “This man is the werewolf you all brought back?

“Of course, he is… rotten monster!” Kawa complains about climbing back up to the tree that they were sleeping in. Only to find Alabaster under him waging his silver tail and his ears perk up. “Stay away from me!”

“But you smell so good! Even out of my wolf form I can still sense it.” Suddenly Alabaster is yanked by his hair by Azulle.

“Come along Fido. Eve, can you check on Ori’s wounds for me while the two of us go shopping.” Eve nods and Alabaster looks happy with the pain Azulle puts on him in order to follow her. But the couple is soon joined by Cabbage.

“A gentleman won’t let a woman be alone with such a beast.” Azulle sighs but figures it was too early to fight with the swordsman over who was in better shape to be able to handle themselves with the werewolf. And then there was the fear she may need another person to deal with the townsfolk so knowing Cabbage’s charismatic nature she felt she could have been in worse shape if instead of her brother or Ori had a natural ability to confuse people with their presence.

Despite the group's early loud start to the day the two guys remained mostly silent as Azulle lead them to town. The noise however picked up quickly when they arrived in a strange welcoming from several women of the town. It was soon Azulle felt like the odd one out as the women surrounded the two handsome men. Some of which are carrying food as gifts to Alabaster.

“Alabaster! I missed you last night!” screamed one woman.

“You hag he was hunting for me.” Other states throwing tomatoes at her. But Azulle doesn’t waste the chance and dashes to collect the thrown food this and other women began to toss at one another. But it wasn’t too long that they stopped throwing fruits and veggies and turn to throw something Azulle finds is a bit easier to collect but far less desired. With the throwing of punches. As the fury turned into a repeat of the fight the night before. Azulle suddenly was grabbed and leaped out from the battle by Alabaster.

“Hey, no fair! Alabaster took that girl!”

“We still have this tasty dish here!” One-woman shouts.

“Um, Ladies please I have a duty, and … Hey watch those hands there!” Cabbage states trying to delicately make his way out of the crowd.

Alabaster takes his prize and runs quickly through the town and Azulle once again finds the whole matter embarrassing and this time she has had enough. She takes the moment she can to push her foot off of Alabaster’s leg and leaps from his arms. And it wasn’t long before Alabaster took notice. “Where are you going my sweat servant?”

“Look you guys can fight over the love of women all day long for I care. But as a man, I am not going to be some eye candy trophy.” Azulle states not thinking about a slip of her words, but Alabaster caught it.

“You’re a man? You don’t smell like a man, and you hide it well. I wouldn’t even take you as a Futa!” And again, Azulle is caught by surprise at the words of the wolfman. This time using a word she recognizes as a strange Japanese slang she remembered in passing.

“You aren’t from this world, are you?” asked Azulle.

Suddenly the egger speed and urgency of the wolfman crashes to a halt. “You can tell.”

“Yeah, well you tried to hide it well but, I guess you can’t it from someone who also isn’t from this world.” The wolf turns and looks with shock on his face at the young maid girl.

“So I am not alone after all in that.” Alabaster looks over and begins to laugh. “Figures this game-like world is too strange to just be made for me. But after spending almost a quarter-century on this crazy planet without knowing of another person from a different world I guess I gave up hope on finding anyone else. Let alone one as cute and sexy as you.” The wolfman's words shock Azulle and she turns beet red.

“Hey, I just told you I was a guy!”

“Yeah, and so are you one now?”

“Well, no… but this is all new to me, okay! Don’t think just because I am a girl now that means I am weak and will fall for some naked ….” Azulle looks down and turns away. “And you really should find some pants or something, you beastly pervert!”

Alabaster scratches his head and laughs. “Oh yeah, I think I stashed some around here somewhere?” Alabaster leaps over to a beat-up old farmhouse. When an old man with a limp comes out.

“So, where you been, last night boy? Figured you would crash in the barn, like usual.” The old man looks at Azulle. “Ah, so you got lucky. About time. But then I guess it can’t be helped with the curse on this town.”

“He certainly didn’t get lucky!” Azulle shouts at the old man.

“Yeah, sorry old Marbo! She is right.” Alabaster says digging through a pile of junk like a dog. “I couldn’t break the town's curse yet. But I am working on it. General Lust promised me she would help me break this curse. And since this girl and her friends are out to face Lust as well then I can go with them and get the curse lifted from her as well.”

“Wait, there is a curse on this town?”

“Oh yes my dear girl, sadly we townsfolk are cursed quite dearly. Why Alabaster here has been the only victim of the curse to maintain his own sense of consciousness. Now each of those that remain knows to never go out into the night.”

“But my friends and I were out last night nothing has happened to us?” Azulle asks puzzled.

“That is because you all have yet to fall under the town's curse. But I wouldn’t stay to much longer. We townsfolk haven’t found the exact source of how one gets cursed. But we feel it comes from something we ate or drank. Then when exposed to the moon's light within this forest, one starts to change and become….”

“A werewolf!” Azulle interrupts.

“A werewolf. Not really. Only Alabaster did and we think it's due to his natural Wolfen heritage to his beast-man form.” The old man explains as Alabaster leaps off the pile with a mud-covered backpack and shredded pants held on by a rope.

“The curse transforms those exposed into monsters yes. Werewolves no. Which is why I am unique. I fell to the curse early on when it was discovered. I was… well let’s just say I just finished a great night of passion when my lover and I were caught in the moonlight. We both changed, I don’t remember much after I first changed, but I remember trying to chase her new form deep into the mountains. The two of us were drawn in that direction. But when dawn came and we still had yet to reach the mountains. I changed back to my current form. But she… she did not. She carried on following the path to the mountains. I tried to stop her. But her new form was stronger than I was and she attacked me leaving me for dead. When night came again, I was healed by my new form but I no longer wanted to go to the mountain. Something had awoken me to the dangers that path lead. So, I went to the one place I knew… Home.” Alabaster waves his hand at the worn-down building and a part of it collapses as he does.

“It’s um … homely.” Azulle remarks.

“Bah, the damn boy never knew how to care for his things.” The old man retorted.

“Well, maybe I just didn’t have anything worth taking care of. You think of that Marbo!”

“I think you focus too damn much on thinking with what is in your pants, more than you think of finding out why you are the only townsperson to not be fully taken by this curse! And now you got some travelers and a servant girl mixed in this mess.”

“Actually Marbo, she isn’t just some servant…”

“Yeah, Yeah, Oh Marbo she is the love of my life. Why she is far better than Fila, or Corzon, or Twindell, or…”

“No not like that.” Azulle sighs with relief at Alabaster's denial of his love for her. “Well maybe. But no. She and her friends are at the parties of the great hero. Prince Gil! They fought the band of goblins in town. Haven’t you seen the streets free of their green-skinned like bothering everyone to give them food and supplies today?”

“Hmm, yes it has been quiet in the demon king’s army hanging around. So, then I take it your his majesty's handmaiden. Fitting this boy to fall in love with the help. And a fat lotta good the prince will do clearing this mess up. This curse has been on this town years before the demon lord’s forces came along but it certainly didn’t help that they seemed unaffected by it. But do you think you stand a chance my dear?”

“I would rather keep the shape I have thank you!” Azulle stated only slightly lying given that she would rather return to her previous form if that was an option. “But I am not my brother’s servant… Well, not completely his servant. That is to say…”

“She is a skilled fighter as well. I have seen most of them in action and I am sure they could help. They all are tablet wearers after all.”

Azulle, couldn’t help but agree with her newly found wolf friend’s statement. And then it hit her to look at her own unique tablet. Pulling out the P-phone she scanned the area with her camera option to see if it could detect something amiss. Outside of Alabaster, it seemed to not come up with anything unusual. But the action didn’t deter her and she kept moving about in hopes to find something out of place.

Meanwhile back at camp, another issue is coming to head. As Gil is shouting about at the trees. “Kawa get down here and get us some water and firewood!” There is no response from the ninja except the tossing of a few branches from the trees. “Look you can’t spend the whole journey hiding in the trees!”

“You wouldn’t know! You don’t have a curse that attracts monsters towards you as I do!”

“You knew we were going to face monsters, so your curse was bound to attract them. I can’t make a plan and not be able to tell if you are here to help as part of the team, or merely here to act like a child.”

Suddenly a massive monster of a man leaped down to confront the young prince face to face. “You are one to say I am acting like a child. You have been cared for and treated special all your life.”

“Merely disguising yourself as a man doesn’t make you one Kawa.” Gil glares up at the beastly hulk. “What makes you so scared to be your real self for once.”

“You wouldn’t understand.” The hulk states grabbing a large chunk of log and dragging it to the center of camp.

“Look I know I am new to meeting you two, but I feel you both have some tension together.” Eve states wiping Ori’s wound clean while Francois lays about in the water.

“It's not tension he is just spoiled and tries to order me around all the time.”

“Because I am your leader.” The hulk waves its hand and goes and sits pouting as it pounds the log breaking it into pieces. “I am the royal heir, and you are a servant of the castle.”

“And Zel is the same!” The pouting Hulk states.

“Azu is different. She is my sister.”

“I Think what Kawa means Gil, is you need to not treat Kawa or Azulle as your servants, but as friends instead.” Eve interjects with Francois nodding along.

“See she has only been with us a few days and she, gets it!” Kawa smiles but when he faces Gil’s sour look Kawa’s smile disappears.

“I can’t.”

“You mean you won’t.” Kawa decries.

“No, I am sorry, one I don’t know what having friends really means. And then there is the issue of my mom.” Eve looks puzzled she heard the rumors and in her brief moment interacting with the queen in the past she couldn’t help but feel most feared her. But she couldn’t figure out what about the former queen that bothered her own son.

“That monster wasn’t your mother!” Kawa repeated the words the King stated years ago to the three.

“You don’t know that! I don’t know that. I was given the title of hero years ago. But according to that monster Azulle was set to be the hero, not me. Even you Eve, heard your masters’ words about me and my sister’s birth. How do I know if I am even able to be the hero the world says I should be?” Gil moves to tend to maintain his crossbow.

“You’re smarter of the three of us. You plan and use those plans to help.”

“But last night was a mess. If it wasn’t for Ori and Alabaster my sister and I would have easily fallen last night. And then you were little help at all as well Kawa.” Kawa’s look of confusion turns back to a pout.

“Try as I might be a good ninja, no matter what I do around monsters they can smell me easily. Last night I kept trying to lose the scent from the werewolf. But no matter what I did he still found me. To have me fight along with you all only mean we will attract more enemies, more threats.”

The camp grows quiet for a time no one wanted to reply. But the first to break the silence was the bartender mage girl. “You prince fear, that you have no way to trust even your own fate. And you Kawa fear you will only burden us all as you journey with us. But you’re not alone. I fear my magic will get out of hand. I am sure the others have fears as well. But if we hope to do any good for these people, we can’t let our fears stop us from doing what we are here to do. We as friends will have to rely on each other. That is why we are a team is it not.”

“She is right you know.” Kawa chuckles. “I guess I could try and stay and fight with you all. I will do my best not to run from a fight again ok.”

“Yeah, I guess I could do some of the work, around here as well.” Gil rubs his head and looks about and grabs a bucket. “I will go gather some water to fix tea if you get the fire back up and going okay Kawa.”

“Sure thing your highness.”

Peace descends on the camp for now. While things begin to get a bit more heated in town. Cabbage now covered in lipstick marks and carrying loads of food finally catches up to Azulle and Alabaster. Azulle still using her P-phone to try and find something out of the norm about the town.

“What have you done with her!” Cabbage states trying to manage a clump of greens blocking his full view of the two.

“Nothing. She just suddenly got obsessed with her cell phone.” Alabaster proclaimed deciding it be better to get off of the swordman’s bad side by grabbing some of his heavy load and tossing it in his mud-covered bag.

“What is a cell phone?” Asks the oddly puzzled Cabbage.

“My tablet now shut up the both of you. I am getting something out of this puddle.” Azulle used her tablet's camera to look at the seemingly normal puddle of water. But within the confines of her device, something was appearing that didn’t appear outside of the phone. A vague light halo of a heavenly body but it wasn’t any of the three suns of this world. No, it was a red moon. This was clearly odd to Azulle because in all her time on this world, the only moons she ever saw were the black moon, which scholars of the world believe to be the planet's former core that had burst free when the world split. Or the fainter green moon. Said to be home to the great forest from which the elves originally derived. “A red moon in the reflection of the water?”

“Hmm well Helven, had a Red Moon, I am sure you remember it.” Alabaster stated, to Azulle but the two look puzzled.

“Helven?”

“Yes I mean you do come from Helven, too right?”

“I thought you were born to the kingdom of Falden?” Asks Cabbage.

“I… was…” Azulle stands puzzled. And then pushes into Alabaster. “Where on earth is Helven?”

“Helven was the planet I originally came from. You too am I right?” Alabaster looked confused as much as the others.

“You’re not from Slaverholt?” Cabbage was purely puzzled. While all his childhood he was raised to understand that elves came from the forest moon he never heard of anyone mention the name Helven. No even say they came from a different world. But now not only was this wolfman proclaiming it but he was trying to link Azulle into his delusions as well. Such an idea was not only fantastically absurd but very laughable. Even the creatures that could fly never could fly to another world if such a one could even be.

But far more puzzled was Azulle. She assumed that Alabaster was from the earth just like her, and the slimes, but not only was this appearing not to be the case. But odder still was the parallels of the earth to this Helven. She moved in closer to whisper to Alabaster as to not have Cabbage hear. “What are you thinking! He doesn’t know we come to form other worlds.”

“But you and I surely have seen the red moon before.”

“NO, I haven’t. Our moon... My moon was white!”

“Well sounds like a dull moon to me. A white moon.” Alabaster beings to laugh.

“Look I would like to talk about this more without natives of this world around okay so till then you keep your mouth shut about Helven, and I will keep mine shut about Earth!”

“Earth? Your people named the planet after dirt!”

“Hush!”

“Fine, Fine.”

“Are you two done yet.” Cabbage interrupts. “My dear maid girl and here I am truly heartbroken, here I thought the problems on my advances towards you were a part of your youthful nature to not yet falling for men. But I guess you have tastes in men that are not me. Alas.”

“I don’t have tastes in either of you. Get it straight!”

“It's because she was a man.” Alabaster states to the shock of both Cabbage and Azulle.

“You were a man? Is that a curse then?”

“For crying out loud Alabaster. No, I am not a man. It’s a long story okay. But fine since some canine can’t keep his mussel shut, Cat food. Yes, neither he nor I, are from this world.” Azulle turns and shouts at Alabaster. “Happy now!”

“But you were born in Falden, I thought that the story of you and your brother’s birth…”

“My current body was born there yes. But my soul was not.” Cabbage looked dumbfounded. Not only did he just find out that one of the girls he was courting wasn’t a woman at some point, but she wasn’t from this world.

“Mine was born in the Addrain Woods, to the east of here!” Alabaster added only furthering confusing the swordsman.

“Does your brother know you were a man from another world?” Cabbage asks trying to clear things up.

“I don’t know. Look since we are being honest I am here in this world for one reason. And that is to kick the ever-loving, ass of a man called Isea. The only other ones that know of this were the slimes I have with us and Ori.”

“Ah, so Ori is a man from another world as well.” Cabbage’s very world of thoughts seem to be clasping in on each other but he tries to make sense of it.

“No Ori is a goddess. One set to be my spiritual guide as of sorts to beat this Isea guy. I don’t even really know where she comes from. And after the beat down both Isea and the Queen gave me ten years ago I don’t even know if I am strong enough to beat him or any of the Demon Lord’s men. Heck after last night I seriously doubt if any of us are ready.” Azulle beings to tear up but sees Cabbage holding out a handkerchief.

“You say you were a man, but I can tell those tears say otherwise. I understand your frustration. What you two have just told me only confuses me. But I still will not say you all are whom your minds tell you that you were.” Cabbage stops and tries to think through what he just said trying to make sure it made sense to him. “I will just have to get to know the real you as we travel, and in turn, you will get to know the real me. Okay?”

“Yeah, sure thanks, Catalan.”

“It's Cabbage.”

“Oh Yeah right. So back to the problem at hand. Do either of you know why a red moon shows in the reflection of this puddle.”

“Well, my grandmother would tell me stories of magic and curses when I was a boy. Saying if ever you needed to see a curse. You reflect its reflection.” Cabbage states.

“So then what you are saying is this puddle is cursed.” Alabaster retorts.

“No, but if you wanted to curse a town you wouldn’t waste the time on the people or the animals. You would curse what they all needed.” Azulle tries to think out the reasoning.

“The town’s water has a curse on it? Is that what is causing them all to change?” Alabaster askes.

“Maybe in part. I think it is best if we got back to camp and woke Ori. She could use her goddess powers to detect if it is indeed the issue. Till then Cowgage you and I can’t drink any water in this town. We also need to make sure the rest of the team does the same.” Azulle states starting to run back to camp and soon the two men run with her.

But by the time they arrive they note it's already too late as they look on at Eve, Gil and Kawa all drinking tea made from the water of the town.
