Chapter 17

I walked inside the house.

Today, I was wearing my usual face.

I opened the door and entered the house.

I could see Mom from her back. She was messing with her tablet while sitting down on the sofa. She looked bored.

She had always said TV makes you stupid, and she downright hates it. However, it seems watching series on the device is fine for her logic.

I walked by carefully to the stairs.

I mustn’t make any noise.

“So, you don't even say hi?” - Mom complained while still playing with her tablet.

I looked at her calmly.

“Hel-”

“Tch”

My greeting was interrupted.

Mom seemed angry again despite she was still paying attention to her device.

I thought of ignoring her and going upstairs, but I simply stopped.

If I were to go upstairs, she would get mad for being rude.

If I go to her and greet her again, she would get mad for being annoying.

If so…

The correct answer would be to stay standing here.

And so I stayed standing up there.
