Chapter 10:

Training

I became a god!?

When I was walking towards my tent, a cold hand suddenly touched my shoulder and swung me around. Behind me was Min-Su. "Did you forget our training?" I looked down at her and quickly nodded, moved her hand off me, and walked away. Oh no, oh no, oh no. Her training is HELL. She suddenly kicked me in the back so that I fell face-first into the dirt. She then proceeded to sit on my back. "Please, get off." I turned my head to the side and saw as she pulled out a small leather bag from her pocket and started to munch on some peanuts. "No, do 100 hundred push-ups and I might think about getting off." She said with a bossy attitude while chewing. I looked at Su-Bin who was sitting on a small wood log a few meters away. "Help me." He looked up from his book, looked me in the eyes with his light cyan color. "Sorry, I cannot do that. She promised to not disturb me for a whole week." Betrayal but at the same time, I feel you. I stared him down but he just shrugged and continued reading. "Well then let's start." Min-Su said with an evil grin. Hell is about to begin.

"I CAN'T!" I collapsed onto the ground. Min-Su walked to me from her box and crouched in front of my head. "Well, to conquer the world you need to get stronger." But I will die before that!. And who said my goal was to conquer the world?  "Well, since it is just a few hours till morning I guess you can get some sleep..." She tilted her head slightly to the right. "But first we are going to do this one more time." I looked up. "But sleep?" I panicked, tomorrow I was planning on hunting ten hedgehogs. "But gods don't need sleep, right?" technically she is right, and to be honest when I talked to Li when we were walking in the forest it seemed like I was the weird one for sleeping every night most gods just sleep If they are worried or if they feel like it. "But your training is so tiring, first you make me use my ice magic until I run out of mana then it is physical training, then there is the agility and athletics, and lastly when I regenerate my mana you just repeat the cycle." She nodded, "I know but if you look at the info-bord then you see that your stats are now:"

STR:15 MCA: 0/250 STM:25 AGY:30 EML:7%

"I know but I want to start to increase my EML to..." I sat up and looked at the info-board. "Well. for that, you need to understand the element and every other night Su-Bin will help you with more theoretical studies." She stood up and looked towards Su-Bin who was still sitting on the same box and reading some books. "Can't I skip the last one, get some sleep, and then tomorrow we can continue while I hunt some hedgehogs?" I pleaded to Min-Su, she seemed to think about it then nodded. "Okey, but I am going to have a few harder exercises but I will also prepare a new skill for you." I stood up. "What is it?" Now I am really excited. she hushed me "That's a secret." and walked away. How am I now going to sleep?

I was standing on the bottom floor of a large tower with a set of stairs going to the top. There was no smell and the stone walls were on the edge of breaking. The tower seemed to be a very old ruin. As I reached the top roof I looked over the tiny wall at the edge of the tower forming a small circle on top of the almost ruined tower. What I saw as I looked over the edge was frightening. The tower was standing on the edge of a valley. Inside the valley was an overflowing amount of creatures. But the three things I noticed were that first. Yuki was standing on a small stone balcony it seemed where he seemed to be in charge of the creatures. The other thing was beside Yuki were his familiars. And lastly, I saw other gods all around on different platforms.

I walked out of my tent to gather my thoughts, Solomon had once told me about these shared dreams that when there was a big event, threat or similar a lot of gods would suddenly feel the need for sleep, and then proceed to all appear in the same dream. That must be what happened. But Yuki didn't seem to actually be there. What did it all mean? I think I need to gather the other gods I saw and discuss this with them.

Once again I was a bit into the forest but this time with Min-Su. We walked in silence with the occasional chant to cast a spell. "So... When I am going to learn that skill." I tried to strike a conversation because I felt incredibly awkward. "You'll see." was the short response I got while she continued to walk forwards. After a few more minutes of this, we finally reached a small plain. "Okay, this is a good spot to learn it." Min-Su walked to the center of the plain a turned around. "The skills I will teach you are: Basic Ice Seal and Dark fall." I walked to Min-Su in silence. "Two skills? I thought I only was getting one!" She shook her head. "Anyways, Basic Ice seal will make any ground target get stuck in the ground with the ice that comes out from the ground. The chant goes as follows: Oh, element of cold, gather at my enemies feet." We stood quiet for a while. "Nothing happened." I looked around me. "Well of course not I don't have the ice element, you moron." She looked at me with disappointment. "Sorry, but that moron was unnecessary." She looked slightly annoyed. "Just cast the spell." I sighed and cast the spell at Min-Su. A few ice shards came out of the ground where a small magic circle appeared. "Cool, but what was the other one." I looked up Min-Su. "Calm down, the other one, Dark Fall will form an area based on how much mana you put into it where only light made by stronger magic-user will shine. The chant goes as follows: Darkness, blind my enemies, stop all light." I nodded. Again nothing happened but this time I expected it. "Since I have 50/250 MCA I will use all of it on this. How big will it become?" She shrugged. "I don't know I just found it in a book and thought it sounded cool". Really... I sighed again. "Only one way to find out." Again I cast the spell. The entire area became pith black. "Woah, I can't see a thing." I heard Min-Su's voice in front of me. "I can still feel everything though" it seems that my skill Dark Veil negated the effects kinda. Since I can't see anything but at the same time, it feels as I see anything but in reality I probably just sense everything. "It seems that my skill Dark Veil is boosted extremely while I use this skill." I noticed that Min-Su seemed to be in deep thought. "Can you sense how big the area is?" I focused. "Yes, it seems that one mana stat is equal to two meters in each direction. That means that this entire area is... TWO HUNDRED METERS IN DIAMETER!" That was insanely big. And I know where every single bug and plant in this area is and how they look. This is incredible. "Can you remove the area soon, I would like to see your not so pretty face again." Min-Su woke me from my thoughts. "Sorry, but again unnecessary remarks." I summarized what I had thought about to Min-Su. "Doesn't Dark Veil cost mana?" I shook my head. "No, or rather it is a passive skill with the range of five meters but if I focus and push mana particles into this field I can heighten the sensitivity and increase the range to twenty meters." She nodded in response. This was one of those simple self-thought things that I had trained on mornings or evenings when I was alone.
We continued to train in the forest until I had killed ten hedgehogs. "Now that we are done maybe you should head to Su-Bin." I nodded it was better to start my theoretical earlier since some subjects could take a while and it would be bad to end a lesson in the middle of something. "Well then, this is goodbye for now." Min-Su made a quick wave and then ran into the forest.

"So as Li told you, magic is the use of mana particles in the air. Gathering these together can then form different types of magic. But to do that you need a clear image in your head of what you want to create. Chants are..." This is so boring. Su-Bins theoretical lessons started out interesting since I came from a world without magic but, even tho Min-Sus practical lessons are hell, practical lessons are a lot more fun. "ARE YOU LISTENING!?" Su-Bin yelled at me, he seemed really annoyed. "Yes, sorry." He sighed loudly. "So as I was saying: mana particles can also affect the area around them for example in a cave there can be a lot of fire particles or FMP for short. If that's the case then fire magic will be extra strong in that area but at the same time, fire magic will also become harder to control. And lastly, creatures will with all likely hood get a fire affinity." He closed the book that was in front of him. "Oh, interesting," I mumbled. "If you don't understand this then I won't teach you how to raise your EML." He opened the wooden box he had used as a desk and took out a new book. He threw it towards me. Since I had not been paying attention I noticed the book as it hit me on the head. "Hey!" I jolted up and fell off the box I was sitting on. "OW!" as I was laying on the ground I heard Su-Bin sigh. "Get up and I will help you raise your EML." I quickly sat up and sat down on the box once again. "Sorry, teacher." I sat with a straight back and talked with a steady voice. "Shut up." He sighed once again.
After that, he taught me how to raise my EML. To summarise, you need to understand the element, since I was from a more scientifically developed world this was easier for me. For example, Ice is a cold element that is quite sturdy when it is thick but can also easily fall apart. It is made from when water freezes and therefore it melts in too hot areas. That is what Su-Bin could tell me. I also know that ice molecules move less when it is colder. I know that it will float on water since it has a lower density. This helped me increase my EML to 8%. But since all elements are counted into this number I also raised my darkness and eternity EML. Sweet.
