Chapter 2:

The Royal Library

I'll Be A Witch In My Next Life

"You what?"

Father reacted as soon as he heard the news about "me" being a witch.

"It's not that really serious, Father."
I jokingly said.

"It's a whole level serious! You made an impossible bet! You can't become a witch!"
He was really angry.

"Honey, please calm down!"
Mother was trying to calm Father down.

"Once you remember everything, you might change your mind again."
Vin was also mad.

"I will not. I'm determined."
Yeah because I'm not the real Valkyrie.

"And if you fail, you'll marry the crown prince immediately? Are you out of your mind? I'm not yet ready to marry off my only daughter!"
He added. That's your point?

"Your Majesty is very calculating. He's not going to let you go that easily. He has always love Valkyrie as a real daughter too."
Vandrel explained.

"That dope! How can he covet someone's daughter? It's his fault that he can't have a daughter! He's incompetent in bed!"
Father, you're going to have your head cut.

"Honey! Don't say that in front of our kids!"
Mother exclaimed.

"Do you not like the crown prince anymore, Val?"
Vandrel asked me.

"Yes, I don't like him anymore."
To be honest, I just don't like drama anymore.

"That scumbag! Did he cheat on you? I should've killed him before I left!"
Brother, you'll have your head cut too.

Well, Valkyrie is very loved by many. I can see that.

"Anyway, I don't want to deal with the Royal family anymore. I just want a simple and happy life!"
I blurted.

"That's why, you don't have to worry about me anymore. I am not a child. I can stand up on my own." I added.

Well, yeah, I was 26 years old when I died. I can manage.

"Val, when did you grow up so fast?" Vandrel was crying, damn it!

"Stop crying, brother!" I exclaimed. You're handsome! You can't cry like that! You can't ruin your face!

"So? What's your plan now?" Vin looked so curious and worried.

"You can't expect to be a witch within three months just because you wanted it right?" He was right.

"I know but I'm not giving up. I'm planning to research a bit, brother." I said as I sipped my tea.

I won't agree to marry that idiot crown prince either.

***

The next day, I went to the royal palace library. I went with my brother Vandrel because he knew the place. I wanted to search for a way to become a witch fast.

"My lady, what brings you here?"

The librarian asked. He had a sparkling blue hair and yellow eyes. He looked like he's about my age but he's already a librarian. I guess he's a genius.

"Greg, please help my sister to look for some books related to witches and wizzards."

Vandrel asked him.

"With pleasure, Sir Vandrel."

He bowed.

***

"Here are the books related to witches and wizzards. There aren't that many but I assure you that these are all accurate, my lady."

He explained as he handed the books on the table.

"You sound like you are confident, Sir Greg."

I smilingly asked him as I opened one of the books on the table. Well, I was also curious.

"I heard that my lady appealed to cancel your engagement to the His highness, the crown prince."

He explained. I guess everyone knows already.

"Actually, the one who wrote those books is my older brother. He became a wizzard and left our family to me."

He added.

I was a bit surprised.

"Your brother is a wizzard?" I asked him.

"Yes, my lady. His name is Eisen." That was a surprise. Greg started fidgeting.

"Well, you're brother might not want to be tied down to your house. He must've been a carefree and an adventurous type of a man." Although I said that, I didn't mean anything. Greg started to tear up a little.

"Others say that my brother is a coward for not inheriting our house. He might be barbaric but he's a kind man who have dreams. You're the first one to say that about him, my lady." Ah? This person might have looked up to him over these past years. How sad.

"Barbaric?" I honestly didn't expect that word.

"My lady used to be so quiet before. You always have passion for books. I remember you going here everytime you visit the royal palace. You have changed, my lady." He smiled at me so sweetly.

"I'm sorry that I can't remember any of it. I have this accident and I..." I wasn't able to finish what I have to say because the crown prince entered the library.

"Your highness!" Greg was also startled.

"I heard you are here, Valkyrie." He didn't even look at Greg bowing to him.
