Chapter 1:

Collision's Course Part I

Precious Hearts Letters ~ Soulmates ~

Kring!! Kring!!

The alarm clock is screaming beside Bastie's ears. He suddenly slams the alarm clock's button to shut the noise. When he checks the alarm clock, it's 6:00 AM the morning. He gets his picture from his desk and he smiles. It's their family picture with his Mom, Dad, and younger sister.

"Good morning, Dad. It's another day for us. Wish me luck!"

He puts back the picture on his desk and he suddenly feels motivated for another day. He fixed his bed, cleans himself, and dress up for his work shift in the morning, as a newspaper boy. Before he goes out, he checks first his mother and younger sister. They are still sleeping soundly so he goes out of their house quietly. He gets his rusty old bike and rides to the mailing company where he works on.

He's Sebastian Donovan, but some people call him, "Bastie". He lives in their simple house. Simple doors, simple windows, simple rooms, but his family make the whole thing special to him. As the first born child, he always had one goal; to make his family live a better life. Ever since his father died, he took all the responsibilities and takes care of his family. He pours his time to work as a part-timer and balancing his school life. He works as a newspaper paper in the morning, and from afternoon to night, he works as a delivery man in a mailing company. In his school, he's the most outstanding student and has always been a scholar student. He dreams to be a businessman someday so that he can raise his family from poverty.

"You know what, big brother? Why couldn't you be more like Bastie?" My younger suddenly interrupts me from writing the story.

I just stared at her furiously and she suddenly quiets herself. She remembers that if she can't make her mouth shut, I will remove her from this story I'm writing.

Anyways...

His smartphone rings, as he gets another client for pick-up and delivery service. He drives his scooter to get the item from the client. As he got the item, Bastie drives fast into a shortcut that he knows. But suddenly, the service road is under construction and the vehicles aren't moving.

The people from the vehicles are shouting at the construction workers. They are complaining that the road is always under construction. Hence, Bastie sighed heavily and stuck in the traffic. He gets a phone call from the receiver of the item, so he picks up the call, knowing that he will be scolded.

"Hello, Ma'am?"

"Hello? Are you the courier of my item?" The caller is a woman and suddenly asks him furiously.

"Yes, Ma'am and I have to apologize~"

"I don't need your apology and you need to drive here fast. I need that costume now!" She cuts his apology and Bastie started to get irritated with his client.

"Ma'am, there's nothing I can do because the road is close to construction."

"I don't care! Can't you make your scooter fly or something? Just do something about it!" Her voice is nervous, yet angry now.

Bastie became annoyed by her approach. She's asking for a ridiculous and desperate way to get there, even though there's nothing he can do about the traffic. She's being disrespectful to her.

"Where else have you seen a flying scooter? Son of a..."

"What did you just call me? Are you badmouthing me?!" She said angrily to him.

"No. I said you're beautiful, and your kind, as well as your attitude..." He sarcastically said while grinning his face.

"W-Well... Your attitude is beautiful too. Your kindness makes me wish... I wish you will get hit."

"I wish you will get hit too. Goodbye and have a nice day."

He ended his phone call while still feeling annoyed by his client. That was the first time he got irritated in his career being a delivery man. He sighs heavily, as he doesn't know what he will go to do next.

The Next Day

While he's going downstairs, he sees his 12-year-old little sister, Jillian walking around the table while holding a picture. Both of them have classes today, and Bastie got a day off from working in the newspaper company. His mother is preparing their breakfast, and he helps her set the table.

"Mom! Do I look like my idol, Taylor Swift..?" Jillian said cutely to her Mom while holding her idol's picture.

"Hmm... Okay, yes!" She said nicely to her and Jillian laughed, as she sits down on the dining chair.

"Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Jillian." Bastie said to them but Jillian's face suddenly frowns, like she's upset.

Bastie doesn't know why Jillian looks upset to him so he stares at his mom. She knows that Jillian is upset with his brother for some reason.

"Why is she like that, Mom?"

"Umm... She waited for you last night and she wants to ask about her birthday."

He knows that the reason is her birthday. She may not look at it, but Bastie always remembers her birthday. He kneels in front of her, as he wants to confront his little sister's frowning face.

"Why is there a frowny face in my beautiful little sister? Mom said last night that you're upset at me because I went home late." He said to Jillian nicely.

"That's right!" Jillian said grumpily at him.

Bastie gets a scoop of a meal, in a way to court and spoon-feed her. He knows what to do to make his little sister makes up with him.

"Now I know it. I'm sorry for being late last night. Do you know why? I'm saving a lot of money, so when your birthday comes, we will go to any places you want."

"Any places I want?" She asked surprisingly.

"Yes." He said and he spoon-feeds her.

"Thank you, Big Brother!" She said, and she suddenly kisses his cheek and hugs him tightly.

After that moment, he sits beside his mom and grabs a bite of the sausages that her Mom made. The taste of the sausages is special and made by love. No one can compete with his Mom's sausages.

"Bastie, take care of yourself while working. You know that we want to be with you always." His Mom said as if she's always a concern to Bastie when he's going out for work. She knows that he should always take care of himself, and not work himself too hard for the sake of their family.

"Mom, are you saying that you're upset too? Don't worry, Mom because I'll make up to you on my day off." He promises to his mom.

"Kids, it's already late. You need to go now." Their Mom checks the clock and seemingly it's already late. So she packs their lunch and cleans up the table.

"Where's that little kid which I will take to the school?" Bastie said like he was playing a little game with Jillian.

"I'm here!!" She shouts and she rides on his back.

"We're going out, Mom!!" They both said goodbye to their Mom while performing a piggyback ride.

"Wait, Jillian is like me?!" Maui suddenly asks and I sigh heavily because she's asking too many questions.

"Yeah. Like an annoying little brat." I said to her annoyingly.

"Well... Bastie isn't like you. He cares for his family and his little sister. But you, Big Brother, are the most annoying big brother that I ever met."

As if I care. This is still fiction anyways. I just need the characters to be related so the readers can relate to it. I sigh again because of this interruption of my dearest little sister. Moving on...

One night, when Bastie is driving his scooter back to his home, his scooter suddenly stops. He checks the front tire and it seems to be flattened.

"What a pain..."

He gets his phone from his pocket to call the police, but two police officers came down to see the situation.

"Sir, did your engine break down?" A police officer asked him while the other one is checking the scooter.

"No. My front tire got flat."

"Is that so? We need to park this at the side, maybe someone will pass so that we couldn't be a bother." The other police officer said while holding his flashlight.

"Okay." Bastie carries his scooter and he parks on the sidewalk. The police officers left and Bastie gave thanks to them.

"Waa~~!!"

As Bastie tries to fix the scooter, he suddenly got hit by a car in unexpected circumstances. As for the car that hit him, it got out of control and crashed into a tree. And that silent night, the things for Bastie will become to change.
