Chapter 55:

Conner's Fate

Ane And His Seames

Conner was floating back in the void and Carter laughed as he was too was floating about. "To think I'd be powerless for so long." he said; grinning.

"Well hitting a nullification technique will obviously have that effect even if you used a counter." Conner stated. Carter smirked.

"Here's the fact I'm sure you know too! My counter multiplies the power of the attack shot at me sooo..." he began.

"The nullification will last longer on me though." Conner continued.

"As smart as ever, brother." Carter said; smiling. He activated his dragon eyes again and Conner braced himself; gulping.

Carter went on all fours and roared before stepping back and preparing a fist. His aura burst from him and his eyes were full red and gleaming and a broad grin was spread across his face. "DIE!" Carter yelled; shooting forward to Conner in the blink of an eye. "Dragon Fist!" Carter yelled as an image of a dragon traced his raised fist. Conner looked horrified as Carter punched him in the heart area. Blood flooded from Conner's mouth and his eyes dilated and Carter stood there silently; eyes shielded.

Elemental energy was pouring from Conner's body like a stream and Carter spat blood and his body slowly fell aside. Conner's scythe floated besides Carter; floating from the stream of blood that was pouring him as he had been cut in half. Carter's soul sprayed from him as well and two large pieces sprouted wings before vanishing into a portal. Saliva dripped from Carter's mouth as his upper half floated aimlessly and Conner flung away finally flung away as time caught up to the speed of their attacks; blood spraying from him. "That won't kill him...unfortunately." Conner thought. Carter laughed.

"My life just flashed before my eyes. Literally!" he exclaimed; cackling.

"That makes two of us." Conner added. The twins eyed another; morphing into their normal selves to reveal their lifeless eyes.

"And to think this wasn't our strongest transformations." Carter boasted; smiling as he stared at the now starless void around them.

"I wouldn't call these easily uncontrollable transformations our strongest." Conner remarked weakly; eying his arm. He coughed some more blood and sighed.

"I guess so." Carter said; eyes shielded. A spaceship appeared behind Conner; a shadow at the controls. It grinned at the sight of Carter.

"They're on my tail, Conner." it growled.

"As expected." Conner replied as he turned to Lana. The shadow with her wrapped around her and teleported her into the spaceship where Conner also weakly entered. "Go." he said. The spaceship blasted off; leaving Carter floating in the void silently.

Lana was staring at Conner who sat on a chair; breathless. "You seem to be low on oxygen." Lana remarked.

"It was that last punch he landed." Conner explained. Lana rose an eyebrow and Conner began to untack his shirt. Lana turned red.

"I-I'm into your nephew you...not you!" she said blurted.

"Ouch." Conner stated. The shadow chuckled. "Just kidding." he continued as he lifted his shirt to reveal a huge hole on his heart area with cracks that spread across his chest. Lana stared in horror. "That punch of his affected my respiratory system and my flow of elemental energy too." Conner explained.

"Will you be able to fight ever again?" Lana inquired.

"When you're in battle; it's not about being able to fight but just not dying." Carter said with a smile; eyes shielded. A blast shook the ship.

"They're onto us." the shadow hissed.

"I know." Conner said as he stood to then flinch and hold his chest.

"You shouldn't move around." Lana warned.

"It's okay." Conner reassured as he grabbed her arm. He placed her into an escape pod; wheezing.

"Are you gonna be alright!?" Lana questioned worriedly. Conner smiled.

"As long as you don't tell Ane about this...unless he asks." he replied; ejecting the girl who stared silently as the spaceship became smaller and smaller. She then clutched a photo of young Ane in her pocket.

"And you've lived through the rest." Current Lana concluded.

"So if Conner's so strong; how'd he die to that Masked Guy?" Ane asked softly; eyes shielded. Eina held her chin.

"It must've been that hole in his chest. It significantly weakened him." she suggested.

"Makes sense." Ene added; nodding. Ane watched outside.

"I'll find you, Carter." he said.

"Are you sure Ane? Did you not hear how strong he is?" Lisa queried. Ane smiled.

"Well I'll just have to get much stronger than that!" he yelled' clenching his fist. Ene grinned.

"Now that all that's over; I have an announcement." Eina said; clearing her throat. "School begins tomorrow!" she yelled excitedly.

"Oh right. Someone told me something of that sort." Ene said dryly; poking his nose.

"How could you forget something so important?" Eina scolded. Ene chuckled.

"Nerd." he whispered. Eina punched him out of the window. Ene came back up immediately; gold particles lifting him up. Faith floated besides him with a smile.

"Hey kids!" she yelled; hopping in and dropping Ene in.

"Ms. Golden..." Ane began but Faith placed a finger on his lips and ran her hand up his face as she approached his ear.

"Faith." she whispered before softly nibbling Ane's ear. Ane went red and Lisa and Lana frowned.

"W-w-why are you even here!" Ane scolded as he pulled away.

"Isn't it obvious? She's having her errand boy run another errand for her."  Eina remarked. Ane sighed.

"That's how I'm seen?" he said sulkily.

"Come on, you don't believe that do you?" Faith inquired; hugging onto Ane and eying him straight in the eyes. Ane gulped and Faith slowly approached his lips.

"Get away from Ane you old harlot!" Lisa exclaimed. Faith's eyes became shielded and Lisa was heard screaming. Ane turned to see sand-like gold squeezing Lisa's breast and ass. The girls screams turned to moans and she eyed Ane; flustered. "Watch away you perv!" she scolded. Ane turned away; face shielded.

"Peak entertainment." Ene said as he sat back; nose bleeding.

"You're a teacher for gosh sakes!" Eina scolded as she slapped away the gold and eyed Faith who pouted and looked away.

Everybody stood in the room silently until Faith coughed. "So....about that mission." she said.

"Oh boy. I have a bad feeling about this one as well." Ane thought.

"You have to retrieve an elemental being from a certain somewhere." Faith said.

"How vague." Eina said bluntly.

"Just a heads up but I heard the building was engulfed in electricity." Faith said before standing up. She smiled at Ane and hopped out the window.

"Like I said; an errand." Eina remarked.

"I left the location!" Faith yelled as she poked her head in the window again. Ane turned and saw the paper floating midair which he then grabbed.

"So; when do we head out?" Ene asked; eying Ane.

Ane was sitting on the roof and Lana walked to him. "What's up?" Ane asked.

"You've been training less than you used to when we were kids." Lana said.

"Guess I don't have much time anymore." Ane remarked. Lana stood there silently and Ane turned to her. "That's not why you're here though." he stated. Lana gulped.

"I-I'm not coming on this mission." she said.

"Why?" Ane inquired casually.

"I don't feel like it." Lana replied. "Water doesn't suit well with electricity. If I go on this mission I might force out my mom's powers." she thought. Ane's eyes were shielded.

"Okay." the boy said; smiling. Lana smiled back and nodded. Ane suddenly hugged her and she blushed.

"W-what's wrong?" Lana asked. Ane shook his head and pulled away.

"I'm gonna go prepare to head out." he said; hopping off the roof. Lana stood there silently; eyes shielded.
