Detective: “This is an earpiece. You put it in your ear and we can hear everything, everything around you, your conversations all that good stuff. This is a contact lens that allows us to see everything you can see, thanks to modern technology of course”

Aradia: “So, with this you can hear and see everything I can?”

Detective: “What if we come up with a safeword”

Aradia: “Okay how about… Pineapple?”

Detective: “Whatever happens please stay safe. And keep in contact with me. If you sense anything and I mean ANYTHING suspicious alert me at once and we’ll bring you out. And… stay safe. This club is known for having fuckers if anyone does anything to make you uncomfortable you can forfeit. No one will say anything, alright?”

Aradia: “I promise”

*Inside the bar*

Random guy: “What’s a pretty thing like you doing in this rough part of town?”

Aradia: “Why don’t we cut the chase and I’ll meet you in the bathroom, yeah?”

Bouncer: “Where do you think you’re going? That area is forbidden”

Aradia: “Oh come on. Surely you can let me through”

Bouncer: “Sorry, cupcake not happening”

Gang Member: “A beautiful girl like you doesn’t deserve to be with people like these”

Gang Member: “Would you like a drink?”

Aradia: “Um, water will be fine. Thank you”

Aradia: “I want Pineapple”

*Back at Aradia’s house in her room*

Detective: “Oh by the way you did good last night. Call me later when you’re feeling better”

Blank Screen

Cor! I have no idea how people can drink that stuff! I had the mother of all headaches and had to pop 4 paracetamol before I was able to get out of bed. After a quick shower and tiny breakfast I called the detective who agreed to meet me at the same café we met before. An hour later we were both sitting opposite each other, me with a cup of tea in front of me and him with a triple espresso.

Yuck!

“So, Aradia- san I think it’s safe to say a job well done” he smiles at me.

“All thanks to you” I smile.

The detective looks up at me confused.

“What did I do? It was all you, no?” he asked.

“Well you thought of the plan, and guided me through everything, it was a team effort. Besides if you hadn’t come then he..”

“Hey” he cuts me off and places his hand on top of mine making me look up.

“There is NO way I would’ve let ANYTHING happen to you” he assures me with a smile and small nod.

I nod slightly feeling heat rise up to my face and ears.

What are you doing to me detective?

“Anyways, I hope this can cheer you up. So, remember the bug that you had put in that guy’s drink?”

I nod while slowly sitting back, crossing one leg over the other, before taking a sip of my tea.

“Well that bug was a GPS it was small enough to be swallowed without the person realising there was something there. So now that it’s in his system we can track him” he grinned.

I smiled so wide I thought my ears were gonna click.

“Ohhh yes!” I cheered and punched his shoulder.

“Oww” he cried rubbing the area.

Oops, guess I forgot my own strength. Welp he should be lucky he didn’t go straight through his chair to the chair behind him.

“Sorry” I giggled.

He shook his head with a slight chuckle before we both burst out laughing holding our stomach, a few seconds went by before we calmed down.

“Okay, so seriously what’s the plan?” I asked.

“So far I think we just have to wait and see what happens. He’s with the other gang members as we speak and…”

“So what are we waiting for? Christmas? Let’s go get ‘em” I say standing up.

“We can’t” he says without looking up from the laptop in front of him.

“Why not?” I ask dejectedly, sitting back down.

“Because if you had let me finished before jumping the gun, you would’ve heard me say that it’s still too early and it’s just us two. Unfortunately, no other cop is willing to help us. No one else is going to risk what happened last time…”

The look on his face tells me that he regretted saying that.

“What? What happened last time?” I asked.

“Nothing. Just forget about it” that playful demeanour gone replaced with a seriousness I didn’t like on his face. He looked better when he was smiling. Playful. Not like this.

Wait. What the hell is wrong with you? Who cares how he feels? You’re just here to avenge Sakura and find Dad and then you’ll be on your merry way back to Hell and you’ll never see this human again! Stop attaching yourself to these people before you get hurt again!

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to pry” I looked down.

He sighed before taking his glasses off and rubbing his face, a sigh escaped his lips.

“No I’m sorry. And you weren’t prying I mean you were just curious. Anyone would be, but this thing is just really personal and… what the f..”

The detective quickly turns the laptop around to me so the screen was facing me, there was a small dot which was moving, I’m guessing that was the gang member.

“He’s on the move. Looks like he’s heading towards the airport. We need to get to him fast” he says to me.

“Want a ride?” I ask smirking towards the detective as he looks at me with a confused expression.

We leave the café after paying and quickly get to my car. Once inside the detective still has the laptop in front of him and is watching the dot move while I put on some blood rushing music.

“Okay go straight” he says pointing forward but continues looking down at his laptop.

I look at the map and have a better idea, I move the gearstick from parked to reverse, put the hand break down, rev the engine before starting to drive while looking through the mirrors and continue to go before pulling a 180 once the road opens up.

“Where are you going? I said go straight!” he yelled.

“No. Because then he’s gonna know we’re tailgating him. We need to use the element of surprise and the only way to do that is do show up in front of him” I say and continue driving.

I see that I am well above the speed limit. Where I’m supposed to be driving at 50 I’m driving at 60. I noticed that the traffic lights were about to change from green to red making me increase the speed even more. I drift to the left as I see the cars from the other side coming and follow them.

75… 80…

I continue increasing the speed without taking my foot off the pedal, my hands off the wheel and my eyes off the road.

“Aradia- san we’re almost there. But please for the love of God slow down!” I heard the detective shout as he gripped onto the grab handle.

“Detective this is Tokyo yes I’m gonna drift!” I smirk.

Oh man I wanted to say that for so long

I turned the car to an open clearing; no other car was there apart from one coming from the opposite side.

Bingo! I’ve got you now, son of a weasel.

90… 100

Yes!

I was driving even faster as I turned more towards the left as he was driving on the right and I was more in the middle before. Just then I had another idea and quickly grabbed something from the glovebox.

“Whoa! What’s that?” the detective asked.

“Spike strip” I say.

“You have a random spike strip in your glovebox?!” he asks.

I shrug before throwing it out of the window and onto the road, I pass the guy only before pulling a 180 once again. We watch as the guy drives over the spike strip popping his tries stopping him immediately.

I look over at the detective who is white as a sheet.

“Wasn’t that awesome?” I say.

“I don’t know. Maybe if we can go back and get my stomach. I’ll ask it.” He says before opening the car door and retching all over the ground.

Uff

I switch the gearstick to park and pull the hand break up before getting out. I walk towards the car and open the driver’s side of the door before ripping the seatbelt off of him and dragging him out.

“What the hell is your problem?” he asks me.

“You are my problem, you twat!” I say while grabbing his collar and slamming him against his car.

“Listen to me and listen to me carefully! You are going to come with us and you’re going to tell us exactly what we want to know… otherwise I swear I will rip your arm off, shove it up your rear end, then reach down your throat, and shake your hand”

He nodded in fear before I threw him aside like a ragdoll. Noticing my reflection in the mirror my eyes had changed from brown to red and a few flames were coming out of my face. I blinked when I heard the detective’s voice and they went back to brown and my face was fine.

“Shall we, detective?” I ask.

Back at my place the detective is NOT holding back on beating the guy black and blue who is tied up to a chair, blood dripping down his face, we know his first name, Rio. But he refuses on telling his last name. I don’t care what his name is, just his purpose.

“Detective” I say pulling his arm mid punch. He pulls away and carries on punching him.

“Detective, please” I say pulling him away and turning him to make him look at me.

His eyes are red, sweat is dripping from his face, and the sleeves of his shirt are rolled up revealing the veins on his forearms and the blood on his knuckles.

No! No! Now is not the time to be thinking of his hands! You can fantasize about that later! Right now we have more important things to be thinking about.

Coming out of my very… sensuous thoughts I pull him out of the room and make him sit on the sofa. I grab a glass of water and the first aid kit and sit down next to him. I pass him the glass of water but he groaned in pain as he tried to open his hand. I take the glass and bring it up to his lips allowing him to take a few sips.

“Thank you” he mouths.

I nod and unzip the first aid kit taking out the antibacterial wipe, bandage, and a pin to secure it. He’s looking straight ahead a stoic expression on his face, I hold his hand and use the wipe to remove the blood from his hand, he hisses in pain a little causing me to flinch and apologise profusely.

Ha! Well lookie there. The Princess of Darkness is tending to the wounds of a human? Now there’s a sight you’ll never see before. Enjoy it while you can folks.

“Why are you doing this to yourself?” I asked him in a quiet voice.

“What?” he asked.

“This” I say holding his wounded hand up.

“You’re hurting yourself in the process while torturing him! As much as I’m enjoying this side of you, please stop! If you want I will take over and I WILL make him talk! But you doing this is not helping anyone. So, please for the love of God, stop, please” I beg.

I’m begging? I’m BEGGING? I’ve never begged anyone before let alone a human and over here I’m begging him to stop hurting himself because he’s hurting me in the process…? What is happening to me?

“I know there is more to the story. I know there is a reason why YOU out of everyone is helping me. There is a reason why you’re a rogue cop. And there is a reason why you’re after the gang, and for some reason I think it’s because of the same reason I’m hunting them down”

“You’re right” he sighs getting up.

He paces a few steps before he stands still, hands on his hips looking down at me as I stay sitting on the sofa.

“You want the truth?” he asks.

I nod eagerly, I want to know the truth. I want to know what’s bothering him. I want to know what exactly happened.

“The reason why I want to hunt them down, torture them, make them beg for mercy is because they killed my wife!” he yells pointing to the room he was kept in as I stared at him with my eyes wide.

He was married…?
