Detective: “Okay, remember Rio?”

Aradia: “Yes, I’m aware of his works”

Detective: “Well, what if I tell you that he contacted me?”

Aradia: “But wait, how did he get away? Ahh doesn’t matter! He finally contacted us! So what’s next?”

Detective: “Oh”

Aradia: “What, oh?”

Detective: “Huh. Actually come to think of it, I hadn’t thought of a plan yet”

Aradia: “So you’re telling me” I begin as I join the tips of my fingers together.

Aradia: “That, you have absolutely zero effing clue on what to do. You just came here to tell me that Rio had contacted you?” I clarify.

*Just then they get a message from Rio telling them to meet him in the park. They go to the park only to find out he wants to meet them in the alleyway instead. They go and find his severed head.*

*Aradia then sees someone running and follows them. She beats him, shows him her devil face, before the detective arrives at the scene*

Detective: “Aradia-san!”

Detective: “What the hell, Aradia-san?”

Aradia: “He was getting away”

Detective: “Alright now you listen to me! That was…”

Detective: “Don’t give me that look you…”

Aradia: “Watch out!”

*Aradia sees someone behind the detective that’s about to shoot him, she jumps in front of him and gets shot in her right shoulder*

Detective: “Aradia-san! NO!”

I opened my eyes to find myself standing in a dark, cold alleyway.

What the Hell! This is… well… Hell!

I’m back home! But why am I back home? That’s not even the weird part! I look behind to see my wings are back. White as sheets and soft as snow. A small smile plays on my lips before I move my shoulders and they disappear.

I walk around and as usual pass multiple doors. These doors are of the people that died and are living their guilt. They’re torturing themselves by reliving that day over and over again.

I open the door and am standing in front of the bank. This is the same day that Sakura died?

What the hell?!

She’s standing right in front of me as she took the bullet. I fall on the ground with her in my arms, watching the blood flow from her stomach onto the ground before she takes her last breath. Then the same scene repeats over and over and over again.

Wait! Why is Sakura in Hell? What is she guilty about?

I feel the world around me closing in and before I know it I’m gasping for air. My eyes fly open revealing a bunch of blurry faces and white walls. The smell in the atmosphere is making me physically sick. A steady beeping near my ear is making my head throb in pain.

My eyes close and when I open them after what feels like an eternity later, the room is empty. My head is still hurting but not as badly. The beeping noise near my ear is no longer bothering me, but the smell of the room is still making my stomach churn. I try to get up but a sharp pain shoots on my right side making me gasp.

“Don’t get up” I hear and see the detective getting up slowly from the sofa.

His eyes are red. Hair is all over the place. He looks like a right mess.

More like a hot mess… anyways

He helps me get up and adjusts the pillow before I lean back again, mouthing a small ‘Thank you’

“You gave me a fright” he told me as he petted my hair.

“I’m sorry” my voice came out a lot raspier that I would’ve liked it but point still stands.

“I should be the one saying that” he chuckles, looking at me in surprise.

I was gonna say something else when the door opened and Anya walked in with a nurse. The poor baby was holding a bunch of flowers bigger than her and a card. She placed the flowers and card next to me and tried to get up the bed. I slightly moved to see her swinging her legs back and forth quickly before she hoisted herself up and crawled up to me.

I stretched my left arm and she tucked herself under it snuggling close to me.

“Hey, Raindrop” I smiled kissing the top of her head.

“Does it hurt?” she asked looking up at me with her doe eyes.

I nod and she places a small kiss on my injured shoulder.

“There you go. Now it won’t hurt” she smiled.

I chuckled and gave her a hug.

“I love you” I smiled.

“Love you, too” she smiled back.

A flash made us both turn our heads towards the detective as he looks at us sheepishly, putting his phone down.

He scratches the back of his head in nervousness, “Oops didn’t realise the flash was on”

I gave him a look.

“Detective. Delete that photo!” I tell him sternly.

“What? Why?” he pouts.

Anya looks up at me confused and turns her head towards her Dad whose giving me the puppy eyes.

Yeah I figured out what puppy eyes are, you have no idea how relieved I was when I found out they had nothing to do with the actual eyes of puppies.

“Because I want us all to take a selfie” I couldn’t contain the smile any longer and it soon broke out on my face.

The detective looks up at me with a huge smile on his own face. He turns his body so his back is towards us now and holds the phone up arms-length. Anya snuggles up closer and grins as I also smile looking towards the phone.

“Say ‘Cheese” he tells us.

“Cheese” we say before he snaps the picture.

“Let me see” I say.

The detective passes his phone to me and automatically my smile widens, it’s perfect.

A nurse enters and tell them to leave since she has to do my dressing.

“Can I stay?” Anya asks looking between the detective and me.

I pass him a look making him sigh.

“Anya, sweetheart. I’m sure Aradia-san wants to rest…”

“Please. Can she stay?” I ask.

Truth is my shoulder hurts, so if Anya is here it’ll distract me from the pain.

The detective sighs once more before Anya and I share a look and turn to him giving our best puppy dog eyes.

“Um, actually. I think it would be best if the kid leaves” the nurse says faking a smile.

I glare at her.

“Her name is, Anya” I tell her while grabbing her wrist as she’s about to pick something up from the bedside table.

She winces as I squeeze her wrist bringing her face close to mine.

“I suggest you speak politely to both the detective and Anya otherwise I’ll show you Hell on Earth” I warn.

I could see my reflection from her eyes to see that my eyes went red before they went back to normal as I diverted my gaze to Anya, letting the nurse go.

She clears her throat, “Anya, sweetheart. Can you please go out of the room for 5 minutes? Then you can come back in” she says.

Much better.

Anya agrees and kisses my cheek before walking out, her tiny hand in the detectives as they close the door with a small click.

She quickly did my dressing and was checking my wound when she pulled me forward harshly making me hiss in pain.

“Oh, oops” she shrugged, an innocent look on her face.

Bitch! You are walking on very thin ice!

“That’s impossible!” she whispered in surprise.

“Hmm? Oh right that.” I chuckled.

“I got my wings back so obviously the marks have gone” I shrugged.

The nurse quickly nods looking at me before she leaves leaving me confused. I lean back and close my eyes for a few seconds before the door opens again.

“Oh sorry. I’ll let you rest” I hear the detective say.

“No. Stay, please” I say holding my hand out.

He wraps his hand around my fingers and pulls up the small stool before sitting down.

“This shouldn’t have happened” he sighed.

“This was bound to happen. I was confused as well as to why it happened because it shouldn’t have. But I realised it’s because you make me vulnerable. I choose to be vulnerable around you” I tell him as I slowly lift my eyes so I’m looking at him.

“Detective. I don’t have any parents. My mother… disappeared the second I was born and my Dad has no idea I even exist. I’ve been raised by my Grandfather and many aunts and uncles, to which I’m only close with one. I’ve never been vulnerable ever! I’ve always been the tough one. The one that everyone relies on. The backbone. The shield. But for once, for the first time in my life I felt as if there is someone looking out for me. I felt there is someone that out there that protects me. So that’s why this happened today because I chose to be vulnerable. So it’s fine” I chuckle.

The detective looked at me intensely.

“If that’s how you feel, Aradia-san. Then I have failed to protect you” he grits.

I put my hand on top of his as he hangs his head low.

“Please stop beating yourself over that, Detective. I’m fine. Please don’t worry. And besides I would rather me get hit than you. You have Anya to worry about, I don’t have anyone. She needs you, Detective” I give him a sad smile.

I don’t even know if my Dad will accept me. So if something did happen it wouldn’t be so bad.

“You have me and Anya, Aradia-san. So please NEVER think that again. And you have your Dad as well, who I’m sure will accept you with open arms” he smiles.

I hope so.

The door opens and Anya runs in up to her Dad.

“You left me” she gives him a scowl that makes her look like an angry kitten.

“Oops” the detective chuckles as I swat his arm.

“Come here, Raindrop.” I say stretching my left arm out so Anya could give me a cuddle.

“We’ll leave your Dad somewhere and see if he likes it” I wink while whispering in her ear making her giggle. We high-five as the detective gives us a confused look.

“What are you two whispering about?” he asks raising an eyebrow.

I shrug, “Nothing. Just girlie talk”

Anya places her small hands on her lips to stop her giggles from escaping as I try hard to keep a straight face. But obviously the both of us fail and end up bursting into laughter as the Detective looks at us with narrowed eyes.

“Sorry, Detective. We can’t tell you” I smirk.

A few minutes later I’m ready to go home.

“So when can I go home?” I ask giving him a toothy grin.

He looks at me as if I were on drugs.

Oh wait I am, sedatives but still.

Are you serious, Aradia-san? You just had a surgery I think you’ll need to stay here for a bit more” he chuckles.

I pout, “But I’m bored”

He sighs, “Want to play on my phone?”

I shake my head, “I want to sleep in my bed, cuddle my teddy, oh and eat ice cream while watching ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’”

Ben and Jerry’s Vegan Cookie Dough Ice Cream, Uff

The detective laughs as he hears my plans, “Okay. Let me see what I can do”

“Yayyy” I cheer as he gets up shaking his head, that smile not leaving his gorgeous face as he walks out of the door.

I look down to see Anya giving me one of her deviant smiles, the one where she knows something that no one else does.

“What’s with that look, missy?” I ask her.

“Nothing” she tells me, her cheeky smile not leaving her face.

The door opens before I have the chance to interrogate her again, revealing the detective. I look at him in hope.

“They said you can leave in a few hours” he smiles.

I clasp my hands together, “Thank you, Grandad”

I smile so wide I think my ears are going to click.

Finally, I can leave this prison.
