Predetermined Plan

The next morning, Rando woke Kendra up. She ate her breakfast and gave Rando his. Kendra started to go to her workplace. The car arrived and she boarded. While traveling, she noticed something unusual. As if the car wasn’t taking any other route but one every place she goes. Initially, she thought most of the places she wanted to go were in and around but then she was doubtful.

“Sir, can we go on a scenic route today as the map shows?” Kendra asked the driver. “I’m afraid you would be late to work if we go in that route ma’am,” the driver responded. “It is showing that it takes the same amount of time on the map though,” Kendra rechecked the map. “Is it so? There might be traffic and that might cause an unusual delay. We could stick to the usual route,” the driver insisted. “All right, how about we come back on that route while returning back then. That way I would have a chance to look at the city.” Kendra said in an excited voice. ”I am afraid I could take you to the places only where you are allowed to,” the driver said. She knew something wasn’t right.

Kendra reached the lab. She was thinking about what the driver said. She approached the receptionist. “Hello Olivia! How are you?” Kendra asked. “Hello Kendra! I am good. Hope you are doing well. How may I assist you?” Olivia responded warmly. “I have a quick question. Would you be able to suggest places to hangout a little bit far away from this locality?” Kendra asked. “Sure! I will swag you all the details,” Olivia said. Swag is a local messenger app. “Are you from here?” Kendra asked. “No, I am from outside of this region. I come from the south,” she responded “Sounds great! Have an awesome day,” Kendra said and started walking towards the elevator to get to her lab. “You too,” Olivia grinned.

Kendra received a swag from Olivia and she opened to view the details. Olivia sent top 10 attractions that are a little bit outside of the locality. She could see all the places holographically with her i-lens. It will be as if we have entered the place and as if we are physically present there but in reality, we won’t be. Those places were very beautiful and she wanted to go to all of them. Kendra messaged her, “Thanks a ton. Have you been to any of these places?” Kendra texted. “Yes, and dinosaur park is my favorite,” Olivia responded.

Kendra reached her lab. She walked past Luther’s lab and it was slightly open. She heard Luther talking to someone. It was having a muffled voice as if they were inside water. She heard something like “She is a valuable asset and we cannot zap her once our work is done even if she’s an alien,” Luther was telling someone. “Once our existence is known then there might be a huge problem between the two realms. We must make sure she doesn’t return back to her realm,” she heard a muffled response.

Kendra walked past the door so quickly. She was so afraid and mad at the same time after listening to their conversation. She went straight into the lab and started working. She wanted to get out of this universe as soon as possible. “Luther does know that I am from another realm. How does he know? Did he get me here? If so, why?” a lot of questions were lingering in her mind. She took out Katie and started her reverse engineering process.

“Hello Kendra! Did not see you get into the lab today,” Luther said. “Yes, I can a while ago and started to work immediately,” she responded, hiding the fact that she heard him speak about her. “That’s great! We might need to have a working product with the basic feature by the end of this month. Also, we might be recruiting interns and full-time employees on Monday,” Luther said. “You will be managing the team,” he added. “With pleasure!” Kendra responded.

Kendra wanted to take a chance and asked, “Any plans for the weekend?” “No plans as such, how about for you?” asked Luther. “I heard that Dinosaur Park is a great place. I would like to go there this weekend,” Kendra responded. “I don’t think you would be allowed to go to that park. It is a place only for locals,” Luther responded. “Okay he is lying. I better be careful with these places and I should somehow escape this place,” Kendra thought to herself realizing it is not safe to trust anyone here.

She finished her work for the day. She came down to ask Olivia if there is any friends group so that she could hangout. Olivia was nowhere to be seen. Kendra messaged her. “I just got fired and I ‘m not sure why even,” Olivia sent her a swag. Kendra was shocked to know that and wasn’t sure if it was because of the conversation they had in the morning. She responded,” I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you find a good job,” through swag. She captured this swag right across the reception area. The driver arrived and she boarded the car. Kendra received another swag from Olivia. Instead of opening her swag, by mistake she replayed Kendra’s previous swag that she sent to Olivia. She saw some sort of a symbol. She paused it and zoomed in. It was the same eye symbol as the one from her realm. And right beneath the symbol was an image of Ray.
