The Skeleton & the Idiot Get Separated

We made our way up the stairs to the next floor. I turned to Erika and spoke sternly,

"Listen, girl. We need to move through this floor as quickly as possible."

"What do you mean? Isn't this floor completely empty?" She responded.

That's peculiar, of all the floors, the residents of this one tend to dislike individuals passing through. I myself am not exactly welcome on this level.

"This floor in particular is different from the other ones. The residents here don't like anyone from any of the other floors. They can be a bit hostile."

“It seemed like they didn’t like you on that last floor either. Did you do something to make so many people dislike you?" She said half jokingly.

There was some truth in what she said. For whatever reason many of the other thralls did in fact dislike me. They claim things like I'm arrogant or condescending. It's not my fault I was one of the most powerful sorcerers to have ever lived and they're really nothing more than Lucian’s useful idiots…

As we walked through the corridor it began getting darker and darker. I could no longer see, but I could hear Erika’s voice,

"It wasn’t this dark earlier. I can't see a thing."

I began to hear noises around us. It sounded like stones grinding against other stones.

"Mr. Arno, wha-?" Erika was suddenly cut off.

"Are you there?" I replied.

She said nothing in response. Suddenly I could feel the walls around me shifting around, changing the corridors layout.

"Girl?" I asked again.

No response…

It appeared Erika and I were separated. I hugged the wall and attempted to feel my way through. They had been rearranged in a maze-like pattern. I had no idea how I was going to find her or even make my way through this without being able to see. Hopefully Erika was able to manage on her own…
