Chapter 11:

I never dared

Bitter-Sweet

On 20th December, only some days left for Christmas, Kayla went out in the afternoon to the pharmacy to buy some flu medicine for Aroma. She was clad in winter clothes to keep herself warm due to the chilly cold weather that had followed the snow.

She was at the counter, talking to the staff who would be giving her the medicine when she felt someone stand next to her. She gave off very similar vibes to someone that she knew. She made sure she did not stare at the girl next to her.

The girl gave the person behind the counter a paper. The person nodded and went to get the drugs written on the paper. Kayla took the pack of pills from the staff and took off after paying her.

But she did not make her way home. She waited outside for the girl. She couldn't look at the girl's face due to the big beanie she was wearing. Just then, she exited the small pharmacy. The girl had noticed the way Kayla was so suspicious of her so she turned to look at her. Kayla gasped as soon as she saw who the girl was.

The girl took off just when she had made eye contact with Kayla. She followed. She ran into a dark alley, Kayla following her behind. She had just found out who the girl was and she was definitely not going to let her go so easily.

She finally caught up to her. She grabbed her by her arm and swung her around, making her fall to the ground.

"Why are you running away from me, Alethea?," she asked.

"Don't touch me!," she spat into her face. She let go of her arm, disgusted.

"Why do you care, bitch?,' she asked.

She was angry but she didn't show her anger.

"Come home," she said.

"Which home? Where all of you bitches live or where I used to live with my family?," she said, rolling her eyes.

Kayla stepped forward and punched her in the face. She glared at her angrily. She kicked her in the stomach, getting up because she hadn't gotten up ever since Kayla had swung her down to the ground.

"Don't you dare touch me!," Alethea said.

"Then stop being like this!," Kayla said.

"Shut up! What do you know about me that you're saying that to me? You didn't even like me in the first place," she said.

The way she said it, was harsh and cold. Kayla was dumbfounded by her words. It was as if she was sinking in the deep. She couldn't handle all this drama that Alethea had caused. It was as if she was filled with nothing but conceit.

"Where are you gonna go and what are those pills you have in the packet?," she asked, even more colder than the way Alethea was being earlier.

"Wherever I go, it's none of your business and what I have in this packet is Marijuana," she said.

Her eyes widened.

"What the fuck are you up to?," she said.

"Give me reasons why I should tell you? Can't you see I don't wanna tell you?," she said.

She turned around the corner.

"Tell the girls I'm dead. I'm doing great without you girls. I used to be the one that you guys hated so I never dared to live with you in the first place. I don't wanna be a part of that house. So I'm not coming back 'cause I'll be shutting my inner self that way. You guys are doing great without me. I don't wanna go home to you guys, even if it's for one night!," she said and ran away.

"Fuck you, bitch," Kayla sighed under her breath.
