Chapter 5:

The Success Or Failure Plan?

Proxima Ascension

I stood amidst the mass of insurgents, my heart hammering in my chest as our militant leader, Maya, traced our following task. Her words were soft but binding, each syllable weighted with the gravity of our assignment.

"Our intellect sources have proclaimed us that the Dream Weaver will be retaining a clandestine conference with her inner circle tonight at the chateau," she began. "This introduces us with a periodic prospect to assail, to infiltrate the chateau and take her down."

A whirr of agreement rippled through the crowd, each of us knowing full well what was at stake. Our world was granulating, our idyll ravaged by the Dream Weaver's voodoos. We had lost so much, but we were not yet vanquished. We had one possibility to shift the tide, to overturn the Dream Weaver and reclaim our liberation.

Maya's eyes flicked to me, and my heart skipped a beat as she gaped through my heart with stabbing cantaloupe eyes. Her gaze extreme and tenacious.

"You have established yourself a beneficial asset to our rationale," she said. "But this subsequent charge will need everything you've got. We require you to go undercover and enter the Dream Weaver's inner circle."

My stomach was wrenched with a combination of excitement and dread. This was it, the moment I had been waiting for. I bobbed, persistent to do whatever it took to bring down the Dream Weaver and revitalise our world to its one-time credit.

Maya laid out the details of the mission, each phase of the agenda delineated in meticulous detail. I listened, my mind racing as I tried to memorize every word, every motion. There was no room for blunders. This was a high-stakes competition, and one slip could mean the contrast between triumph and defeat.

As the meeting drew to a close, we amassed our supplies and pushed our way to the palace. The night was dim, and the moon gleamed luminous in the sky, releasing a ghostly glare over the cobblestone lanes.

We stalked through the shadows, our footsteps hushed as we hovered over the palace porticoes. Maya gave a sign, and we diverged off into our respective parties, each of us with a distinct part to play.

I approached the immense oak doors; my mind focused on the task at hand. I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what lay ahead, and strode inside.
