Chapter 3:

Chapter 3

School Days

"Amy, good morning!," Ursula shouted from behind, when she saw Amy McDonald walking to school the next day.

She quickly caught up to her. Amy smiled at her.

"Good morning. How are you?," Amy asked.

She wore a blue midi skirt with a black crop top and a blue hairband.

"I'm fine. How are you doing?," Ursula asked.

She wore a red high collared shirt with a red skirt and a green neck scarf.

"I'm amazing. Did you enjoy the physics lesson yesterday?," she said.

"Of course, I did! It was good. I'm gonna try to study physics even more now that I can understand some concepts," she said.

"Oh, it's good that you like it now," she said, smiling.

"What? Like physics? Hell no! I still absolutely hate physics but it's better to understand now," she said, sticking her tongue out.

Amy laughed.

"Actually, I'm really sorry," Amy said.

"What? For what?," Ursula asked, confused.

"Yesterday, I eavesdropped on you and the other girl, Mabel. I'm very sorry! Please forgive me!," she said.

"Oh, it's actually fine because we were talking about you in the first place. So, you don't have to apologize at all," she said.

"Um, this might seem a little weird but what did you mean by me being too hard on myself?," Amy asked.

Ursula's eyes widened.

"So, you heard that part, too?," she asked.

"Yes, and I'm really sorry. I wasn't supposed, too. Please forgive me," she said, bowing.

"N-no, please don't do that!," Ursula said, laughing.

Amy straightened herself.

"But, please tell me what you meant by that," she said. Ursula sighed.

"I meant to say that I've seen you usually in the library. You spend hours studying there and it seems weird how you can just sit there for hours and after that you play basketball, too. So, I thought you were just being too hard on yourself because you weren't letting yourself rest," Ursula said.

"Actually, my Mom wants me to become a doctor. So, I'm working really hard for it. So, I can get into a good college and university," she said.

Ursula was shocked.

"I wish I were that smart. My parents would've been so happy with me that way," she said, sighing.

Amy laughed.

"McDonald, go see Principal Mallard in his office," someone said to Amy at basketball practice.

"Me? Why?!," she confusedly asked.

"Dunno," the girl said.

"What?!," Amy asked, shocked, "But, I can't do that! I don't know anyone who can help me with this matter."

"Miss McDonald, you are the smartest person at Jubilee high. If not you, then whom? You are the only person that can find out who is the president of the occult club," Principal Mallard said.

"But sir, I'll have to talk to a lot of people from the occult club because of this. And, why do you want to find out about the occult club even after you shut it down?!," she asked.

"Miss McDonald, the occult club room had a lot of weird posters hung up there when we shut the club down. But there was this one that was specifically very disturbing. It had nothing drawn on it," the Principal said.

"So, what's so disturbing about that?," Amy asked.

"Miss McDonald, Rhode, the janitor, told me that the club room's door was unlocked when he was walking around at night. He turned on the light of the room to see that there was a woman on that blank poster this time. And it wasn't just a picture. She was moving!," he said.

Amy's eyes widened as she got scared.

"W-what do you mean by that?," she asked.

"There's someone in the poster, miss McDonald. The members of the occult club have played a lot of that board in their club that there's something permanently living in that room now. I got a complaint again yesterday," he said.

"But, the club room's locked. Why would you get a complaint?," Amy asked.

"People from the scrapbook club said that they heard someone banging on the occult club room door from the inside," he said.

"The scrapbook club's room is right next to the occult club room's, right?," Amy asked.

"Yes, it is. That is why I need you to find out who's the president of the occult club," he said.

"But, who's the one who got the occult club registered to the faculty? They're the president. You'd know," she said.

"There's a new president every year, you know that. And the page on which the occult club was registered, is gone from the faculty's diary," he said.

"What?! Mr. Mallard, you understand that this is a really dangerous task, right? Why are you assigning this to me?!," she asked.

"Miss McDonald, the future of all of Jubilee high is dependent on you. Please keep this confidential and among your friends which are gonna help you. I look forward to the day when we won't be getting any more complaints at all. Thank you," he said.

"I can't do this!," said Amy to Ursula and Mabel, when they were walking home from school.

"But, Amy, it's something important!," Ursula said.

"I know. That's the problem! I always get the toughest tasks," she said.

"But, you get them because people know you can fulfill them. Amy, we're with you. You can do this!," Mabel said, cheering her up.

"Yeah," she said, looking down. "Well, my house is here. Bye," she said and left.

"God, she looks down," Mabel said.

"I'm gonna ask Sawyer about the occult club's president. You should ask Bruce, too," Ursula said.

"Yeah, I will," Mabel said.
